We have a Redline Track Ed. 350Z and since the car is in the body shop now we are thinking about painting (not powerder coating) the Ray's Engineering Wheels to either gun metal or dark grey color, what do you guys think? Any one has picture(s) of Redline with dark color wheels? Any suggesstion greatly appreciated

i think i'll look very good. i'd suggest black and not gunmetal. i'm not sure, but if you paint it, won't it eventually chip due to the heat. i powdercoated my rims and have not had any problems.

I had my wheels powdercoated black. The color is called 'black-80% gloss'. I paid $75 per wheel.
This includes chemical stripping not sand blasting. Make certain that the inside of the hub and the surface which contacts the brakes are masked off. The paint gets wedged between the wheel and brake hub. The fit between the hub and the wheel is very tight and the paint thickness makes it very difficult to install and remove the wheel.
I sanded the surface but the shop repeated the powdercoating because they had not masked off the inner part of the wheel the first time. It looks much more professionall than my sanding process.
Have included some pictures.
