Question any one run 255/35/18 in front and 275/35/18 in back

I currently have a 245/40/18 on 8" wheel in front and a 255/40/18 in rear 9" wheel but i want a little wider set up, as it is the tires are a little thinner then the rims (small running toyos.) i have tired the the 245/40/18 front 275/40/18 rear set up but i didn't like the big sidewall of the rears and i didn't handle well(very pushy feeling.) I Know the speedo will be off a little bit but im not worried about that. I just wonder how it will handle before I drop the money down. Has anyone tried the 255/35/18 to 275/35/18 combo? will it handle better the the other setup?

p.s its a 20 offset if that matters.

I'm running that tire setup, but on a 9.5" wide wheel all around. I like the way it handles, but can't compare to another setup because that's what was on my Z when I bought it last June. I don't know how differently it would handle though.

I recommend a 265 mm tire on a 9.0 inch wheel. But 255 or 275 will be fine. Doubt if plus or minus 10 mm will make a recognisable difference.

I wouldn't run that setup, just get a set of 10 to 10.5 rear wheels. It completely changes the way a 275/40 looks, not to mention they handle better on wider wheels than a 9. If you want to get rid of the push, get 9.5 all around with 275/35 front , and 275/40 rear. Even with the just mentioned setup , you can run a wider rear wheel if you want.

Thats the mullet of tire set ups. Business size in the front, party in the back.

I've run 255/40/18 fronts on an 8" and 275/35/18 rears on a 9" without an issue, including daily driving and autox'ing. Different offset, but your +20s should be fine also. That's the limit of suggested sizing for those wheel widths.

Does this fall in with the Z performing better with the taller rear?

I'm experiencing the "push"/understeer now. Should I move my 275/35 to the front and put 275/40 on the rear?

Do you have adjustable sway bars? If so, I'd start there before changing tire set-ups. Try the extremes of full soft and full hard and compare.

With the proper size wheels, i would highly recomend it. VDC/TCS will love it, there is no caster change by bringing the back end down more than the front. Its a great street setup, good track too.
