Default 275/40/18 in the front on lowered Z?

hey guys,

after some lengthy searching and research i couldn't find a definite answer whether or not somebody is riding with 275/40/18 all around on a LOWERED 350z. I found several threads with people running 275/35/18 on all fours, but noticed in the pictures that the rear has a pretty noticeable wheel gap. I currently am lowered on tanabe gf210s and am getting the rota p45rs 18x9.5 +20 all around. I want to ride with a square setup 275/40/18 all around. The big question is: Will I experience any major rubbing in the front?
PLEASE RESPOND ASAP SINCE I HAVE TO MAKE MY ORDER TOMORROW MORNING! THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

That combination is 26.7" tall. It'll be close, and possibly depend on how much the springs lower the car. The tallest front I've run is a 265/35/19, which is 26.3" tall and it did not rub. Why do you want so much sidewall anyway? You could run 285/30/18 all around, which is only 24.7" tall, or 2" shorter than what you've proposed and .4" wider.

Thanks for the reponse. The GF210's drop the car 1.0F/1.2R. I want alot of sidewall so that I don't get that wheel gap in the rear. From what Ive seen, 275/35/18 in the front seem to fit well.

cut the spring mount in the back instead of substituting sidewall?

I actually read here a couple of days ago that the 275/35/18 front and 275/40/18 rear is a great setup. This has to do with the computer preferring the taller rear tire. You get the width all around and the height you need in the rear.

I have 275/35/18 front and 275/40/18 rear, I'm not lowered but went with 275/35. The 35 is closer to oe at 1/3in shorter than oe vs 275/40 which is about .8in taller which is fairly substantial.

Square setup handles quite nicely.

If you have VDC there can be some issues with having the same tire height all around.

Ah I see. So you're runnin 275/35F and 275/40R? How does it handle? Any VDC issues?

Yeah. Steering is much more neutral, less understeer. The handling balance seems much more responsive to throttle input in turns. Definitely a worth while setup. Only other mods I have are a nismo lsd and 3.9fd.

I have a base model so I don't have VDC, I'm not sure how much of a difference is needed but I know I've read there are issues with vdc if you have the same tire height all around. Weather or not the difference of 35 to 40 profile would be enough to make it happy... I don't know. Again I'm no expert on VDC as it's not something that really concerned me.

i am in the same boat as you! i have p45r's and am running 275's-40-18 in the rear and 245-40's-18 in the frnt but hate my tire gap and how much lower the fronts are vs the rears. i also had vdc and am wondering if i can go 275 all around. i have posted this question on my other forum (g35nyc.com) and am still looking for a confirmed answer. i used the tire size calculator and i posted up my factory size wheel up front (225,55,17) and what i wish to put on (275,40,18) and it says that there is a .3 difference and that the overall diameter is actually DECREASED by .08 of an inch. so it clearly should fit. now... will it work with vdc if the rears are the same size aka square setup?

i am on tein basics slammed in the rear and the fronts can still be dropped another 3/4inch. the rears are slightly tucked actually. i am running p45r's 18x9.5 with +20 offset all around. i really think im going to go 275-40 all around. maybe even buy some cheap used 275-40's to test out for the front and see how vcd reacts to it first then go from there.

i talked to wheeldude and he said that he would NOT recommend 275/40s all around. He says its too tall for the front and you will experience rubbing. He recommends 275/35 all around but the only problem i have with that is the wheel gap

hmm idk how it can be too tall considering my stocks are .08 TALLER. i can understand if its to wide with the +20 offset but clueless on it being to tall. FYI im not a 350z im a g35 coupe but i really wouldnt think that to change anything would it? give me your stock tire specs and i will see the results after i place them in the tire calculator

edit- did wheeldude say anything about the VDC with the same tire all around?

hahah bro im in the exact same boat! my wheels are coming this friday and i have til then to decide if i want to change the tires i initially ordered. from looking at pictures with people running 275/35/18 all around with my springs, the front looks good (since the fronts are lowered more with these springs), its just that the rear has a lil gap and those who run the 275/40 in the rear, i think it looks good. i think im 95% now im going wit 275/35F and 275/40R. let me know if u want to see the pic

a 35 up front for me wouldnt work to good. my current front setup (245-40) is 3.86% difference from stock specs and if i went with a 275-35 i will be a at a 4.38% difference from stock. also the overall diamter of the 275-35 will be lower than my current setup which is already lower than stock. i wouldnt base it off looks as much as getting it close to stock specs
