Angry Massive Nitto Invo Failure - 3 months old

I bought these tires on January 13th 2009 and this happens....

I've had an alignment done once since I bought them and tire pressure is always kept around 42psi. Buddy of mine thinks this is a defective tire, what do you all think? I'll have to borrow a friends extra car until this is fixed, just to dangerous to drive on this.

Call Nitto and tell them about it and send them pics. I had Goodyear tires fall apart on me when I had my vette and they ended up replacing the tires for free (the rear left was defective but they needed to replace both rears for even wear).

^Great info xedes. However does it matter that I bought these from an online tire distributor and not discount tire, etc....? Would they warranty the same way? This is obviously a defective tire right?!

Wow, that's crazy. How did you spot it? Since it's on the inner shoulder, it's pretty rare that anyone sees that side.

A buddy at work told me my tire was flat, I went outside and couldn't find any nails. so after I filled the tires to 20psi I started looking around and felt MASSIVE bumps on the interior side wall.

42psi is a lil too much for those tires....35psi would be plenty....call nitto...they have great customer service and will prob replace them free with those pics

Eltness, when you say they will replace "them" does that mean all 4 wheels or just the one that is damage? I'm not sure what I should be demanding tomorrow when I call them.

Thanks!

all 4 is unreasonable. replacing the damaged one for free should be enough.

Hahaha that looks weird as hell.

Why do you run 42psi in your tires?

Go down to 32-36.

I emailed them to confirm correct tire pressure. Seems like there is alot of confusion when it comes to tire pressure with different tires and wheel sizes.

^I agree, isn't max psi for these tires @ 44? Should have been in the mid to low 30's.

i hate nitto tires.
i had 2 set of tires with sidewall cracking. they are notorious for weak sidewall.

no more nitto for me.

It shouldn't matter who you bought them from, they were still new so the warranty would be the same. Yeah, I'd would say that is defective.

Not really. If they're "Z" rated, they should be replaced in pairs. Nitto would have a hard time disputing this when places that sell their tires will tell customers the same thing.

mid to low 30s is not right for a DD. high 30s is appropriate for most passenger car hipo tires. it messes up the contact patch, sidewall deflection and your fuel mileage running too low a psi.

that is totally ****ed, and hilarious at the same time. I would ask them to replace all 4 even though you can't prove or figure out if they were from the same batch... just to be safe... bubbles are extremely dangerous when they are that big. like blow the **** our of your sidewall dangerous.

good luck.

Thanks for the support fellas. Seems no one can agree on tire pressure so I'll knock it down to 38psi to keep it in the middle. I'll update the thread tomorrow after speaking with nitto.
