Default tire set-up

I'm new to this site and my name is mikhel, and i have a red 2006 nissan 350z touring

I plan on keeping my stock rims for a while until i can get some volk te37's
but i do want to upgrade my tires. Will i be able to fit

245/40zr/18 front
255/45zr/18 rear

without any issues whatsoever with vdc or anything else with this set-up, any inputs will be greatly appreciated

The 255/45 is quite a bit taller than the 245/40's. I suspect that will cause issues. A 265/40-18 would be better with the 245's.

You want:

245/40/18
255/40/18

or

245/40/18
265/40/18 (if you want a beefier rear tire)

Edit: Tire size calculators are your friend:

coolness, and thanks for the reply man, so ur saying that this set-up will work on the stock 2006 rims without any fender rubbing or speedo issues right?

Rear tires are 33mm taller than front. I would prefer to see 10-20mm.

I ran the former setup (245/40, 255/40) for a good while on factory 03-05 track wheels with no issue. You definitely won't have any rubbing issues.

I'm not gonna spoon feed you (so you learn), but if you go into the tire size calculator, compare your stock sizes to the new sizes. The app will give you a speedo difference in %. This is the percentage you can expect your speedo to be off with the new setup.

Let us know if you have any more questions!

Edit: Read this to learn about VDC operation and its relation to front and rear tire diameters:

ive done some research on the set-up that i want to do n if i put the 245/40/18 on the front, there is a 3.64% difference on the front tire, and reading from that one thread that u can't go over 3% or u wil cause complications with the computer... so can i get ur input on that i dont really wanna scrw up my car ya know

best bet is plugging the various sizes into the calculators online and you can find your ideal setup. It will also tell you how much, if any, the speedo will be off

you have no fear of rubbing, stock wheels are nowhere near the body panels

There are two comparisons you have to make.

1. Speedo error calculation: Compare your stock front tire size to the new front tire size (e.g. 225/45/18 vs 245/40/18):

225/45/18: Overall Diameter: 25.97 in (659.63 mm)
245/40/18: Overall Diameter: 25.71 in (653.03 mm)
Diameter Difference: 1.01%

Your new tire will be slightly smaller in diameter, therefore your speedo will read 1.01% too fast at a given speed. This has nothing to do with VDC.

2. VDC compatibility calculation: Compare your NEW tire sizes, front to rear (e.g. 245/40/18 vs. 255/40/18):

245/40/18: Overall Diameter: 25.71 in (653.03 mm)
255/40/18: Overall Diameter: 26.03 in (661.16 mm)
Diameter Difference: 1.23%

Your VDC will be fine with the new setup, since the diameter difference front to rear is only 1.23%. You are correct in that you want to keep this difference less than 3%.

Hope this helps.

Glad I could help. Post pics when you have the new tires on.

why? just picture a stock Z with stock wheels and black things know as tires wrapped around the wheels. It will look the same as before, just a little more wheel well gap in the rear due to the shorter tire

May I ask why you've decided on Toyo T1Rs?

Cause I like looking at pictures of peoples Zs, stock or otherwise. The value for posterity is also there...maybe someone wants to see what a 245/255 setup, on T1Rs (or whatever tire he uses), on stock wheels, looks like. Or, don't post pics at all. Either way no skin off my back.
