Default Volk GTS +18 Rear Question

Those of you with Volk GTS 19x10.5 +18 rears, when your car is stock height, do the rears stick out quite a bit past the fenders? I just had my wheels put on and while the fronts sit pretty flush, the rears stick out past the fender quite a bit (at least 3/4 to an inch). Is this normal? Does a drop make a difference? I wish I had taken pics but I won't be able to until Tuesday or Wednesday. My car is an 08 350Z Grand Touring. The wheels are Volk GT-S 19x9.5 +17 and 19x10.5 +18 with Toyo T1R 255/35/19 and 285/35/19 tires. I thought the +17 / +18 offsets were supposed to be flush.

Is anyone able to take a pic of their GTS from the rear of the car as well as looking straight down over the rear fender?

Thanks,
B

Its completely normal. The wheels will angle in a little bit once you drop your car. FYI, your 285/35/19 setup might cause the tire to rub against your fender. Now, are your rear fenders either cut or rolled? If they are not then it will definitely rub once your car is lowered.

Well my car is at Z Car Garage (of course you know this place) and Rob thinks it's the wrong offsets. I just think it's an aggressive offset but now I'm questioning it. Maybe you could stop by there and check it out and let me know if it's normal. I'm so disgusted, I was supposed to get my car back today but after Rob test drove it, he discovered one of the wheel bearings in the rear is busted and causes the wheels to shake and wobble. Now it has to go to the dealership and see if they'll replace it under warranty. Thanks for your help.

Oh and yes, I am having the rear fenders rolled as soon as my car is fixed.

Yeah, the offset is a little aggressive. But its not enough to give you problems or what not. You definitely need to roll or cut your fenders before you lower your car. This is a common setup for GTS owners believe it or not. I have a buddy who is running the exactly the same offset, but with 275/35/19 in the rears though. My car will be with Rob soon, so i will check it out. What color is your car?

The offsets are good. You just need to lower your car a bit to get yourself some negative camber. Once you have that camber, it should sit pretty flush

The edge of the rim should be 3/4" inside. Tire should sit close to flush. the wheels still have the stickers on them? Those show the offsets....if u got near 0 offsets ill trade u my +18 rears!

Carbon Silver, or gray as I like to call it . I'm going to be doing the suspension next, I'm not sure what Rob and I want to do yet though. He keeps trying to talk me out of getting coilovers. I really wanted a set of Bilstein PSS10's but now I don't know. I'm looking for a very conservative drop. I don't want my car slammed to the ground.

The wheels are brand new so they still have the stickers on. They are definitely a +18 offset according to the sticker as well as the label on the box.

285 mm is a wide tire for the low and tucked look. It is what it is.

My buddies Z is sitting on Stance coilovers on the +18 rears with 285/35's and all he did was roll the fenders and pull a little.

Here is an old picture.

His sn is j1234

I believe he was is at -1.8 camber in the rear now.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the pics fellas, I really appreciate it . I will compare them with my car and see how they look. Seems like you need to run quite a bit of negative camber to get them to sit better.

make sure you get a rear camber kit once you lower the car. I bought one but waited a month to put it on and ruined a rear set of tires on these wheels lol.

Definitely. I'll be getting a front and rear camber kit when I do my suspension. Thanks for the tip.

I don't really think a front kit is necessary. I was lowered on Tanabe GF210s and never had uneven wear on the fronts. It is good insurance I guess, but I would use the money for other stuff.

I finally got the wheels on and man they look sweet. They don't stick out as much as I thought they did. I think it was because my car was on a lift and they didn't let it down all the way that it looked weird. Now all I need is a drop and I'll be ready to snap some pics. Thanks for all the help fellas.
