I found them to be extremely predictable, loved the sidewall construction and wet grip was on par for a summer tire. Id also say the dry grip was way better than other tires in its price range. Some have complained about the noise level but it never bothered me, hell I couldn't even here them over my exhaust. Now if you're looking for a loud tire then look no farther than the BFG KDW, they're like driving on 44" super swampers on the highway.

I'm now on the R888 and for the little time I drove them I liked them. Really wasn't able to push them and they were brand new so still need to burn off that top level of oils and such.

I'm not trying to be rude but are you making some good power? Most of the owners I talked to about the Nittos are making 500+whp. Granted you can spin any tire at that power range but they all hated them.
Funny you mention the KDW. LOL Cause I LOVED my KDW on my Z. I didn't find them loud at all. Guess it was hidden by my exhaust and/or stereo.

1. People who buy the cheapest for their needs. ( the hella flush crew loves this moto)
2. People who buy tires on realistically how they will use the tires. ( very few people in this group )
3. People who buy what they are told to get on forums going by how they think they will drive. (majority in this group, people who think they are pro drivers because they did an autocross once and like to take corners fast on the street)
4. People who buy what they really need because although they run autocross and HPDE they still don't consider themselves to be better than they are or try to exaggerate what they do. (very few in this group, they can usually be found helping others with their questions on car setup and tire choice once they've figured out who the posers are )
Basically "most people" either over buy or under buy on tires and can only regurgitate what other have told them. Having built tires for a living before has been a educating experience and taught me several things that sales did not.

This is just where my local group placed me. Idk classing very well. I just race what I brought, I enjoy autocross but my car was built for me to enjoy just driving on the street and around town
With wheels and tires, intakes, exhaust, retune, coils, the splitter and a quaife diff where would you say I should be classed? Just curious.
I may eventually upgrade the sways to hotchkis. Trying to hold off on spending much money on anything lately and just trying to enjoy driving the car.
Better off that this guy at least!
He drove the car way too hard though in my opinion. Way too much sliding, especially for an awd car. Maybe I drive like a woman haha.
http://youtu.be/EKK5_VrzH2M I am not using the 4 pts, so please ignore the slack in them.
What are all the bad things you're hearing? They came on my wheels when I bought them used, and I've been happy with them thus far. My personal tire experience though is slim so I have little to compare to.

Thanks, I appreciate you're help and input. Just curious because I do not 100% understand what the classing even "means", how does SSM compare to STX? Is one higher/faster than the other, or are they just "different"?

I understand nationally my car would be poorly prepared for either class, but locally I beat the other 6 cars in STX and also beat the times of the two in SSM. I was just curious though, and I assume 03threefiftyz would have something to say on the subject.
It is just my guess, but because the pax multiplier on STX is lower than that of SSM, that would mean that they consider SSM to be the faster class? Or maybe there is no relation between pax multipliers and "speed", it's just my assumption.

Please don't get me wrong here I'm not trying to come off as a know it all or judgmental, I'm simply sharing what I like for my car and willing to share what I've learned over the years. Are my generalizations 100% no but there is some truth in them. I understand that my post count is low "here" and there is a pecking order to the forum when it comes to valuable info but I just wanted to participate in the conversation and share from my point of view. Take it with a grain of salt like all posts should be.

SSM is the fastest DOT legal class in autocross. It is dominated by big turbo (some 3 rotor) RX7's with big aero and hoosiers.

I do well nationally, take FTD's at club events and smaller SCCA regions, but the top national SSM cars can be 1-1.5s faster on 50s courses.
