You should be fine on rear with a bit more camber.
I got my fenders rolled with camber at minus 2.5. I am pretty low too and new wheels i got are 20x11 minus7 and got 285/30 for them.. I got 255 /35 on the wheels now and with a test fit it looks like a very little pull and minus 3.5 camber will fit the 285s no problem.

 

Did you roll fenders in rear? Cause its crazy to imagine you are rubbing with that wheel gap

 

Wheel gap has little to do with rubbing during every day excursions. Yes, his Z may be 1/2" higher than some others, but the car deflects that 1/2" at times like he is referring to.

OP - 285/35 will likely make it worse since that's a lot taller tire. Rolling the fenders would help since that buys over 1/2" of width.

 

Well man your still gonna be mexi-flush if you don't lower to meet the tires, and flare some more...

If you come to the fat tire side, I personally say 275/35 285/35 and raise/lower it to match along with pull/flare more!

 

I've been trying to read though, but man, this thread is long. I love the fat rear tire look. Just wondering if someone can chime in with their 2 cents.

I'm not a big wheel guy. In fact, I really like the stock wheels on my 06. I painted them- and while they aren't amazingly awesome wheels by any means, I am pretty content with them. I also dont track, autox, nothing. Just a daily driver. Is there any pro/con to me getting fat rear tires? Not going for the wide wheel/tire combo, just like the look from the side. I'm a complete noob to everything wheel/tire since I usually just try to buy well rated tires. I'm literally just thinking of looks, and am unaware of performance/issues. Car sits on Eibach pro-kit springs also.

^ dat paint! Stick to your oem sizes. A high quality tire will get you further than a wider one in your situation.

I say run a 255/40 (F) & 275/40(R) (same circumference as OEM) or a 285/40 (R).

 

You only care about how it looks from the side? If thats the case I see no point in going wider. Tires will be more expensive and well, you cant tell the difference from a profile view. Just stick to what you have.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it, although I think you missed an important part of my post. I'm NOT looking to go wider, I just like the fatter tire from the sidewall view. Although, like I said, total "specialty" tire noob, so I don't know if thats mutually exclusive and I can have a "fat" tire from the side without needing a wider wheel/tire combo.

 

So you want a "bubbly" looking tire I suppose? The stock tires are pretty damn bulgy as is. If you wanted you could do 255/45 in the rear and 245/45 in the front. The 255/45 is taller than a 245/45, and your front tire would look almost identical to the rear tire you have now. Is that what youre after?

 

I tried to find a photo but failed... I know I have seen a silver/grey Z on here that has exactly what I am talking about.

Anyway, yeah I thinking of same size front tire, but a taller sidewall rear- I just think it looks a bit more aggressive than the standard tire size. I'm honestly not sure if what I am looking for is a ridiculous thought or realistic. haha

Wouldnt a 255 just be a bit wider? Or is the aspect ratio of the sidewall taller/thicker from rim to wheel well?

 

A 255/45 would be slightly taller than a 245/45. A 245/50 would be a full inch taller.
