hey all, I am looking at getting new tires for my 08 Nismo. Love this car! I believe, from readin various posts, that the RE-11's are the ones that replaced the RE-1?? or whatever it was (They come on the nismo for the japanese ones, with the 275 width) Anyways, my only question/concern is the sizes. On tirerack.com, the stock nismo front size of 245/40/18 is available. For the rear however, I was planning on going a little wider, to have a more aggressive stance. I plan on adding some more modifications to my car, so I would like the traction to be there! On tirerack, the size for the rear is 265/35/19, which is stock. However, they dont have a 35 edition for the 275 width tires. They are 275/30/19. Can i get a 285 width tire, because its the next size up and it is available in a 35 profile. Sorry for the long post, hope it makes sense! What could I do?
a 285/35 is a bit taller than a 245/35...the sidewall is aspect RATIO, so it is based on the tire's width. with 245/35 up front, 285/30 might work better. i'm definitely no expert, but it seemed like you might be confused about aspect. sorry if i insulted your intelligence though.

no no, i was aware at the time there would or would not be issues. Thats the reason why I asked. Im happy you told me though! I was merely asking for help. So overall, should I do 245/35/18 up front and 285/30/19 in the back? Again, my car is a nismo so there is no VDC, just traction control and the LSD.
I have RE-11s on a Nismo and went with 265/35/18 and 265/35/19.
I'm quite happy with the combination, but somewhat wish I went with 275/30s in the rear. However at the time I was a bit concerned with the sidewall.
The 285/35/19s were not available at the time, if they were, I would probably have gone with those.
Other than the RE-11s, I would look into the Kumho XS and Nitto Nt-05.
I highly suggest the 265/35/18s up front and pair them with 265/35/19, 275-285/30/19s or 275-285/35/19s. Any of these combinations will be fine.
Nitto NT-05 : 265/35/18 and 275/35/19
Kumho XS : 265/35/18 and 285/35/19
RE-11 : 265/35/18 and 285/35/19
Rake and difference in diameter should be looked at, but people have run 255/40/18s and 285/35/19s or even wider in the rear without any problems.

Sensi, i appreciate your post! I didnt feel too happy when the previous posters told me not to run 285's. But i think, personally, the 10 inch width of the nismo wheels can support it. Would the stock nismos front wheels support a width of 265?? Doesn't that seem bad, no? Overall, my main concern is if i DO BUY the 285/35/19 rear tires, WILL I or WILL I NOT have problems??

You will not have problems. With VDC there might be a concern, but otherwise, it's not an issue.
Again, people have run 285/35 and larger in the back with stock fronts without issues.
265 is fine on a 9" wheel. A larger front tire will make more of a difference in terms of handling.
