Direct Comparison - Nitto Nt-05 vs. Toyo T1R - PLEASE!
Hello the Z Folk! Before someone posts a link to separate threads / reviews for these tires please know that i've already done quite a bit of research. However, i'm interested in knowing how these tires do against each other directly.
I'm currently on my second set of Michelin PS2's and while they are awesome tires they go for about $450+ more for the set than these other two tires i've mentioned. Since their lifetime is pretty limited, in these times, i'd rather put that cash elsewhere.
So, with that being said, what would you guys recommend as far as these two different sets? They're not too far off from each other in price. I don't track my car but I can drive it aggressively now and then. Also, I live in Lost Angeles, CA so I don't have to worry much about rain, etc. I'm looking for something which will last me a while and which won't feel much worse than my PS2's. Is that possible...? Thanks...

Ive had the kuhmo spt, dunlop sp sport 9000, dunlop direzza dz101, T1-R, then the Nitto Invo and now im running the Nitto Nt-05. For your kind of driving i would say you should take a look at the Nitto invo. It is a very quite and smooth riding tire with amazing wet and dry grip. The Nt-05 is a better tire as far as grip goes but it wont last as long and is kinda noisy. Out of all the tires ive had the INvo's are prolly the best all around for daily driving duties and performance driving.
The main difference is the Nitto’s have a stiffer sidewall than the Toyo’s.
If your preference is a secure feel while cornering, you will like the Nitto’s.
If you prefer a softer more comfortable ride, the Toyo’s are better.

Envo vs T1r is actually really close, the NT05 is basically a street class race tire. I have run the Envo's, they wear great and stick well with a great ride and low noise.

The Nitto Invo does sound like a better choice for the OP's stated use. It has been directly compared to the Michelin PS2 as well. I also agree that the Invo would be a more appropriate choice for an "apples to apples" comparison with the Toyo T1R.

Hello everyone. Thanks for all the suggestions. I actually just picked up the Nt-05's. Yesterday evening I called a local vendor and they happened to have a set ready to go that someone else hadn't yet picked up. I haven't driven on them too much but they look and feel great. I took a couple of hard turns and they feel just as responsive as my old PS2's. I'm not sure how they'll hold up during the rainy season but i'm sure i'll be fine. Again, thanks for all the input. You guys were very helpful. Werd.

They are mildly noisy, as expected from a uni-directional tire (not as noisy as the KDW2s, but still enough to notice). Dry grip is average. Wet grip is somewhere between average and below average. Overall, a good budget tire, but nothing to write home about. About what you would expect for $155-175.
i love my t1r's. cant say much for the other, but had some nt555's and they were absolutely useless. i use my t1rs for auto-x, track, and daily driving. they r great even when i auto-x'ed them in the rain. great tread wear on them as well. can't say enough about t1rs.
