Here is the wheel, slightly different model, that I refer too, that looks the the 350Z wheel. This wheels is 18x7.5 and weighs just 17 lbs. Compare that to a 19" wheel before you slap them on.

The only reason I would be getting new rims in the first place would be to improve looks or go to a lighter weight wheel. But it seems for owners of the track model, Nissan has both of those areas taken care of quite nicely. Maybe after a few years, or if the Dallas area floods with track models, I would switch.

Hi D.C.

I understand getting wheels for style. My response was for TXSTYLE, who mentioned more spirited handling with 19" wheels, and looking at his big 'custom chrome' moda's and knowing that similar thinking would be a bad thing for a sports car.

Yeah, I agree with you. I don't like anything more than 18s usually either. But being the resident post *****, its my job to make comments on most things said, lol.

I said "spirited HANDLING". WHich could actually equal spirited Driving I guess! And it's not a coincedence that most 'Great' sports cars, Porshce, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Viper, Vette, etc. use a "staggered setup".

I didn't say anything about staggered setup. I owened a staggered setup car which came from the factory that way. The manufacturer now sells that car as a non staggered setup. It probably doesn't handle as well anymore

O.K. O.K. For the record, my thoughts on after-market wheels! For me and my rides, the GS and the upcoming 350Z, it's all about looks. I'm all too familiar with VOLK and all the other 'light-weight' wheel makers out there. I in no way make the claim that 19's make for better handling, grip, etc. I DO make the claim that 'staggered' setups generally handle and grip better. Although the wheels I have planned for my Z are not the lightest on the market (which really doesn't matter to me ) they are definitely not the heaviest, and won't be chromed (more extra lbs.) but they WILL BE SWEET AS SH**!!!

Remember, bigger wheels = more weight = more rotational mass = more power required to spin.

17" is a decent wheel diameter, IMO.

Sho' you right! I will admit, I have a thing for NICE BIG WHEELS! Hell, I would absolutely love to (and I still might, I'll just wait to catch a pre-owned, better priced ) have a Big Black Cadillac!!! Escalade that is with some 24' or 26'. YES, TWENTY-SIX!!! See for yourself on this Land Cruiser! Gives new meaning to the phrase: "Got Rims?"

I've known Jim for a long time. Been to his house, he even let me drive the Beast, all by myself! No, i wont be at the meet, actually Im not to involved with cars that much anymore. Only here to learn more abou the Z after selling the NSX.

I agree with msink. The Rays are very expensive as they are one of the few wheels that actually improve performance or at least not reduce it. For a little better value, the SSR Competitions are good. I was shocked that even with the SSRs weighing a ultra-lightweight 9lbs, the added weight of the bigger tire meant that I gained nothing over the stock setup. And this was just going +1". Imagine how bad things would have been if I went for one of the cheapo wheels or +2'". Guys, be warned: for most wheels on the market, the loss in performance is NOT worth the looks. Rays on the other hand is one of the few exceptions.

The general rule is that you need to add 5lbs in body weight for every 1lb unsprung weight (i.e. wheel weight). So an increase of only 3lbs per wheel (very easy to do) makes your car feel like it weighs 60lbs heavier (that's about the weight of the A/C system). I promise you, you WILL feel the difference. In racing, 50lbs is considered a unit of measure for improving performance in all departments, namely accelaration, handling and braking.

You have to be very careful with wheel offsets also. Just a few thoughts on the subject.

Anybody have a pic of a car with OZ F1 Cup Wheels? I always liked the way they looked, but I've never seen them on an actual vehicle.

I agree with the above post that most wheel mods probably only detract from the performance of the car. But, not to subscribe to the "All Show, No Go" philosophy, but a nice set of wheels really can make some cars shine.

Here the wheels was going to my black 240sx but im going to sell the 240 so the wheels are going to my new black Z they are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 enkei aegis they are 3 piece. OK fix now
