EXCELLENT observation and post MfM3! And you yourself stated exactly what other plans I have for my Z should there be a clearance issue. As with my GS, I lowered it 1.5 inches to compensate for not only "visulal appearance" but more importantly, handling and less body-roll. I also added front & rear braces (strut & chasis) which the Z already has. It is my hope that the Z's factory suspension will accomodate my 19's if not, hello Eibach.

All we need is an offset....
I believe Nismo is going to be offering a set of 1" lowering springs for the G35, so the wheel gap problem hopefully won't be an issue. I have to stick with 18"s since I live in New Jersey, home of the worst roads in the Union.

I don't know if this will help you, but Doug Stewart (owner of Crawford Z Car Service in Nashville, TN) noted the first thing he would do is put spacers on, to push the wheels out even more towards the corners. I think this comment reassures me that a pretty wide tire could go on the back. I don't know much about wheels and such but I hope this helps.

I emailed gtautosports.com about pricing on a particular wheel, and I also asked if they knew what the fitment specs were going to be, they responded, confirming 114.3x5, didn't give offset though. Hopefully he didn't say this just because it's the standard, but that's what the measurement will really be. Also, is using spacers a good thing to do (no problems caused)? Forgive my ignorance, but I've only bought one set of aftermarket wheels and they fit right out of the box.

Seriously though, nice setup; it looks like you're throwing 20"s on there. Can you photoshop my secret rims?
Someone bring me the offset info so I can bring the secret rims when I pick up the car!!!

Hey TXSTYLE... I have never really considered buying rims for a car until I ordered my new Z and I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions on which types of rims to get since you seem to know a great deal.... I wanna fit either 19 or 20's on it and I was wondering you knew some that you can recomend me to... I like rims that looks nice'n sleek don't really have to be racing rims I want the look that looks catches the eye and goes along with the car... if you could help me out it would be great! Thanks TX!

I like this thread. Good to see TXSTYLE is a moderator. I remember reading he is lobbying JMANZ for a dedicacted wheel and tire section on this site. It would be great to have a few photoshop experts get interested in this topic. VQracer's link is very useful when plus sizing. www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
I'd like to see the 19" Moda R6's, that TXSTYLE has on his GS 400, photoshopped onto the Z. Haven't done a lot of research, but looking at tirerack's selection of 19" wheels that fit the G35 (350Z fitments not yet shown), I like both the Moda R6's and the SSR GT-3's shown earlier in this thread photoshopped by TXSTYLE. Can't beat the price of the R6's at $289 ea vs. the GT-3's at $549. Hopefully tirerack will offer both these wheels in a 9" or 9.5" width so a staggered set up can be used. Optimally I'd like to use 245/35-19's up front and 275/35's out back. Both these sizes come within a few 1/10"s of the overall diameter of the tires that are standard on the track model with 8" wheels in front and 8.5"s in back. Speedo reading won't be too far off, and hopefully the tire pressure monitoring system will still work.
I personally don't get excited about the 350Z's stock 17's or 18's except the 18" Rays...I could live with those. So, aftermarket is almost a must at this point and why not go with 19's. 19" wheel and tire packages will cost $2,500-$4,000, and the rear tires will only last 10K-15K miles, but your Z will handle better and look kick butt! You only live once so why not drop it an inch or so also! TXSTYLE said it well...hello Eibach...or Nismo.
