Just wait for the 10's to come in in Oct, and sell the 9's on the forum. Some other track junkies will pick them up from you, im sure.

If Ataru was running et.18, you shouldnt have gone with a et.22 knowing that he is barely clearing the brembos!

The RPF1 is a funky wheel in that it has that "barrell" where the inner diameter gets smaller as it moves towards the face of the wheel. I've seen the same thing with my 17x9.5 +38 set that required an 8mm spacer to clear the Brembos. Is it close to the point where you can run a 5mm shim spacer? I've used those for many track events without issue.

That is what I am using also (17x9.5 +18 all around). With 3 degrees of neg. camber up front, there is a lot of room. I could probably run a lot less and still be fine.
I would strongly recommend a 'square" set-up, no matter what wheel you choose. If you are tracking your car regularly, being able to rotate your tires is absolutely invaluable.

I got up @ 4 am EST and drove to TireRack in South Bend, IN ~ 200 miles one way to pick up 17x10 +18 and they were the last 2 pieces they had in stock. I am not sure what's this coincidence but all the RPF1's 9, 9.5 & 10 were the last 2 that they had in stock. I dropped them off at the shop to be mounted for the track day tomorrow.

The shop just called me and said that the wheel is sticking out further than stock on the rear. They wouldn't know if it is fine with the fender till they mount it. I told them to be careful when mounting the tire :fingers crossed:

I did not want to use a spacer on the track nor do I want to roll the fenders, I'd rather buy the correct size.

I bought it on scotts300's post, but don't worry scott I am not blaming you It's all part of the learning process, but it does suck for all that's going.

On a lighter note, Tire Rack's warehouse is HUGE, HUMONGOUS .... I was happy to see all the varieties of wheels in the waiting area. That is something you don't get to see very often.

The problem is the offset, not the camber. Camber doesn't affect brake clearance since the parts move together.

Sorry to here, you can add a spacer and call it a day if you can't return the wheels. Many people do that and it's very common, even for track cars. You actually have more flexibility than say, me, since I just got +15 offset and can't push them out much more without rubbing and can't push the wheels in at all because of offset.

+22 fir fine in other models. I ran those a while and they clear my 14" stoptechs. I think the RPF1 have a lip that interferes.

EDIT: redundant info above. Just read the end of the last page instead of this one....

The shop called sometime later and confirmed that the wheel sits alright. I will know more once I track the car tomorrow. Will post my findings.

Default Update after the Track Day

I had so much fun at my track day yesterday and there is noticeable difference with the camber arm that I had installed. The car does not fight anymore in the turns and just turns I had to adjust my steering input as less is more now.

I had bought Kumho Ecsta XS and I totally hated them in the earlier part of the day when it was wet. But once the track dried out and the tires had enough heat in them I felt they performed better than my RE-11's.

Following was my final setup

Wheels -- Enkei RPF1
Front -- 17x9.5 + 18
Rear -- 17x10 + 18

Tires - Kumho Ecsta XS
Front -- 255 40 17
Rear -- 275 40 17

Note, front wheels will not clear the fender without negative camber. I got an SPL V2 camber arm installed in front and I ran the track with -2.2 with good results.

FYI - My Potenza RE040's have a worse wet rating than your Kuhmo's and I was Ok in the rain.. just have to drive according to the conditions.

You know that was my first day with Kumhos and I was coming straight off of RE-11's. The RE-11's had excellent wet grip compared to Kumho's hence the feel.

I could not find 4 wheels of the required size 17x9.5 before the season ends. So I got whatever I could and bought 17x10's for the rears. I might go square next year.

this thread has been great. I also picked up a bunch of information from it and I think I'm also going to go 17" next season.

mekatoka- what clubs/groups do you do track events with?

I have only tracked in MI so far and this is my first year doing any form of motorsports (autox & track). I have tracked with the following groups

* 3 Ball Racing
* Great Lakes Lotus Club
* South East Michigan Porsche Club
* WHRRI

Going 17" was nice but now I face the problem of taking the wheels to the track Luckily both the times members who had trailers offered to transport my wheels but I have to think about a solution for next year. Putting a hitch on the car and hauling a tire trailer seems like the best solution but at this point I REFUSE to put a hitch on my car. I think NISMO would look hideous with that.

I see that most of you guys are discussing whether 17" RPF1s will fit or not. Does anybody have any experience with 18x9½" +15 RPF1s? I've found a set that I might buy and figure it will fit based on what I'm reading here regarding 17s.

that 18" size is very common and fits as if it were meant to be that way from the factory!

AGREED! Don't do it! Try to figure something else out!

Can you fit 275s on the front with that offset? They aren't that light, when compared to SSR Comps or even RPF1s. The cast 17x10s are ~21# (I have them for open tracking, also), and agree they are great value, but 17x10 RPF1s are 17#, and my 17x9.5" SSR Comps (for autox) are 15#, 17x10s SSR Comps are 17#. Sure, there are heavier cast wheels, but these aren't the lightest of 17" wheels for sure.

I like the +22 offset 17x10 FNO1R because you can likely put a 295 on the back, though I doubt I'll be able to match that in the front since my big 275 is already a super tight fit.
