I'm running 275/35/18 Nitto 01s square on 18 x 10 +20. No rubbing.

Always turn off VDC/TSC. It's dangerous with it on when you're pushing the car.

Suspension bits are in my profile.

Pads Raybestos ST 41 front and rear on Power Slot fronts and DBA slotted rear rotors. Motul and stainless steel lines.

Afternoon lapping at Pacific Raceways in Seattle. 1st session - I ran a full hour straight on the track yesterday with no fading with this setup.

I am actually going to try this setup in 2 weeks with ST-41s and Centric blanks. Can't wait to try it!

Due to drifting..........i currently have MB Weapons 17x9 +27 offsets in the rear with 20mm project kic's spacers!

Fronts are Mb weapons 17x9 +17 alone, no spacers.

Cool TR 18 X 10's

So I bought some TR 18 X 10 and they look great! I am concerned about clearance between the rim and control arms on the front, about 4mm. I have bent rims on my other track car from hitting the curb to avoid traffic (passing) at the limit. I could see locking up a front tire on the control arm if this ever happened again (Turn 2 at PIR) I'm thinking about a 5 or 10 mm spacer just for some extra spacing. Any Suggestions?

Default Update

I just wanted to update that I decided to go with Enkei RPF1's 17x9.5 +18 in silver. I have ordered the last 2 available from TIRERACK and am currently looking for 2 more matching wheels.

Even Enkei doesn't have them in stock and I don't know what to do. If I can't find them in time I might end up buying MB Competition wheels and use them. For now I am searching ......

It's confirmed that I cannot find the remaining 2 Enkei RP1 in 17x9.5 +18 to complete my set. What do you guys think of the following set up

RPF1 17x9 +22 @ FRONT
RPF1 17x9.5 +18 @ REAR

OR

RPF1 17x9.5 +18 @ FRONT
RPF1 17x10 +18 @ REAR

I have the following tires being delivered today
Kumho Ecsta XS 255 & 275 in 40/17

Did Enkei say they were never goin gto make another 17x9.5 +18? Do they have any other offset? Check with Oakos as well for both the one you're looking for and other offsets: http://www.oakos.com/

Why did you decide against a square set-up? Since you went 255/275, I'd get the 9" front wheel for the 255. That will still allow you to run square in the future AND have the ability to rotate them.

+1 on the non-square question Deepu. Cuz even if you had the same wheels all around, with different tires you weren't going to be able to rotate them anyways.

And yeah I'd get the 9" front also for the 255. Plus if you decide to go a different route you can always sell the 9" with 255 tire setup to me since I'll need a 17x9 with 255 tire for next year STR autocross

OR you can wait it out since winter is almost here. I'm sure Enkei will make more 17x9.5 wheels within the next 6 months.

Also won't you have a big diameter difference between the rear and front? Tire calculator shows 2.46% so I guess you're within the 3% limit. But that's cutting it close.

I have tried like 10 different stores and OAKOS was one of the first ones I tried. They are local to me. Enkei does make them but 9.5 is special order from Japan. Tirerack are the only people who stock that size. Tirerack only had 2 and I bought the last of the 2. Enkei supposedly had 2 in stock but later came back saying they only have 1

I wanted to go square but was not sure if 275 would fit in front without any rubbing. So I first decided to buy 255/275 and at the time of install I can check if 275 fits and get it the next time. Tires wear out very fast at the track anyway

IF you urge to have the tires NOW.. I'll get 9.5 / 10 staggered so you can use 275F and 275/285/295 R
if don't... wait to have all 4 equal. :-)

Too late, I gave in and ordered 9 for the fronts. There is hardly a month left for us to drive (in Michigan) and I want to get as many days as I can before I put the car away for the winter.

No biggie, I will take a hit and try to sell them later and 10's for the rear. This is a start for now I have had to spend too much time lately on this and its starting to affect my work, not good It's just that there is too much up for grabs.

Can you imagine I never even knew how to drive a stick last year, and didn't even know how to do an oil change until recently. Ok... drifted away .. on to the topic ...

Will 285/295 even fit in the rear? What other kinds of adjustments will I need? In one of the other threads terrasmak had posted that its good to stay as close to the stock specs +30 for the track as possible. HERE

Also, the following were delivered by Tirerack today

2 X Kumho Ecsta XS 255/40/75
2 X Kumho Ecsta XS 275/40/75
2 X Enkei RPF1 17x9.5 + 18

I should be getting the following day after tomorrow
2X Enkei RPF1 17x9.0 + 18

... and I have a track day coming up on Saturday

Default Reason for my uneven wear / feathering on front left tire

The following is info/reply that I found for question I posted HERE
I wanted to post up that I have been told that the feathering on FRONT LEFT was more pronounced than any other tire was because of the driver's weight. Never even though of it, but does make sense

Following is the order of the feathering
FL < FR < Rears

**** has hit the fans

I have learned the hard way that 17x9 +22 WILL NOT FIT over brembos The shop which was installing them for some reason did not check if the wheels will clear the calipers and mounted the tire. When they go to put the tire on car they realized that the wheel does not clear the caliper anymore. So now, I cannot return them to Tirerack. I will have to sell them myself, I guess its time to get some iTrader points.

So, I am gonna have to buy 17x10 +18 for the event. Man this sucks!!

Also, 17x9.5 will not clear the fender unless you have alot of negative camber ~2.5.

Hopefully, this info will be helpful for others

Really they don't fit? But I thought that's what Ataru and everybody else was running?

Is it really bad clearance? Or can you grind a bit of the caliper? sucks man

Ataru was running 17x9.5 +18 and on RPF1 that is already very close. He said he runs 3.2 in the front and that is why it works for him. The 17x9 has +22 offset and that is the problem.
