re- clearing my stock rims
Hey guys was up. First of all i have an 07 350 with stock silver rims. The clear on my rims is coming off so i am going to re-clear them. I was wondering if i should go ahead an paint them as well, and if so what color?
Can i please have your input.
Thanks a lot guys!!!

If the clear coat is coming off, the paint is probably damaged as well.
Your best solution is taking it down to the metal, painting the wheel, and then adding the clear coating layers. Anything less will result in pealing and flaking, and then you start over with a more expensive project cleaning up previous mistakes/shortcuts.
This might be a good time (excuse?) to start looking at aftermarket wheels. Buying aftermarket wheels is a lot more fun than repainting and recoating stock wheels.

Try powdercoating instead of painting. It will last longer and is a lot stronger to road debris. I've heard of pricing going from $60-$150 a wheel. That might be another option. just my .02 cents

and if you search (powdercoat stock wheels) they will also crack faster.

Powdercoating cracks when they're not done correctly. If you strip off everything like it's meant to be done, you should have no problem. Factory wheels come powder coated if you weren't informed. Only reason they crack or peel, is if you use cleaners that are not meant for wheels, or if you're exposed to salt during winter to melt down snow.

My apologies I miss-understood you with your earlier post.
But to clear up that myth of wheels cracking after being powder coated. That usually happens when the wheels are not stripped right, and use the wrong chemicals. If done properly by someone who spealizes in powder coating WHEELS not fences or anything else, there should be no problem. But it is correct that wheels can get weaker and have the tendency to crack if not stripped properly before getting powder coated.

thank you guys so much for your input, we have a family friend of ours that can do them for me and the only thing that i would have to do is buy the material. Should i go ahead and paint them the same color or a different one?
thanks again for your input guys.

I would start by dropping by your local dealership. Then tell them you want your wheels replaced or refinished under warrenty
