Am I the only one who doesn't get a hardon for Volk's?
I fail to see the point of this thread. People buy/want what they like. If a lot of people like the same thing, then fine. I'm sure there are people who spring wood over HREs and ROTAs. OP has a problem because he can't get it up over some classic JDM wheels? Wow, I just noticed that 15 of his 23 posts are in this thread - apparently he's got a hardon over something.
Face it, most of the threads on this site are about personal preference. You can replace the phrase "Volk wheels" with a thousand other things here.

+1 on the personal preference comment.
I don't and to be perfectly honest, no wheel has ever given me a "hardon"
On a serious note.. I can afford Volk Racing wheels and I purchased a set for my WRX a few years ago. After a few months I did end up bending a wheel after an impact with a pothole (any wheel can get damaged given a severe impact). I then looked in to Rota Wheels as they are very affordable and to this day I haven't put another wheel on my car. For MY CAR they perform very well and I can't justify spending the extra money for a higher end wheel. The Rota Wheel exceeds JWL/VIA test standards, comes in the sizes/fitments I am looking for, and is offered in tons of color options. Yes, my car may be slightly quicker with a lighter forged wheel, however, I could care less about going around a track .01 seconds faster. For my wants/needs/goals, they are a perfect option.
My car with the Volk Racing CE28

Here are the wheels that replaced the Volk Racing CE28's, a set of Rota DPT's

Here is what was under the hood

My WRX is not a show car, not a track only car, etc.. it's a car that I built to have fun with on the street and attend track days through out the year. I did not cheap out on parts and in the end I had a car that performed very well and did what I wanted it to do. In fact, the car was voted Top Subaru on the Nasioc forums
By switching to Rota Wheels did I "cheapen" the car? I don't think so, and the 99.999% of people I've talked to don't think so either..
"The Rotas are good wheels and the cost is right. Are they the holy grail of wheels and make us look uber hip standing around in a parking lot at night? No. Do they work and work well? Yes." - Bryan @ GST Motorsports

I prefer Work Meisters myself for the Z, but I think the reason why people love Volks is because their wheels are forged, strong, light, and look good at the same time.
Also on a side note...FAIL for whoever is trying to advertise within this thread. Talk about lame.

Every time I look at them they make me hard. Even thinking of my old LE37 makes me hard. +1billion on other than my garage, I habe only seen BONE STOCK Z's here in Texas. Matter of fact I have seen 5 today STOCK!!
wheeldude... could you be any more pathetic? no one asked about your ghey rotas. you had beautiful volks and replaced them with a sub par copy of your beautiful volks. why? BECAUSE YOUR COMPANY SELLS ROTAS AND YOU MAKE MONEY ON ROTAS.

^"thank-you"
The real reason for replacing them.. they were bent.. (I made that perfectly clear in my post above)

You fellas shouldnt attack wheeldude on any kind of personal level here, he is a great guy. Honest, nice, and deals with alot of shet (even from me) on this forum for selling Rotas.
I, myself, do NOT like Rota as a company because of their blatent copies of higher end wheels and the fact they dont have 1 original design, nor try to change the copies even in the least bit.
I for one have had a couple arguments on this matter with Dan, but the fact remains, he is a great guy and means well.
I seriously doubt he was trying to advertise, he is just offering his .02 like all of us. Just because he sells the wheels shouldnt exclude him from an opinion.
Its not like even if he was trying to advertise, none of us had the smarts to see through it... common.
EDIT: By the way, that white R34 pictured above is fukin' sickness...

I can't stand the constant bashing of WHEELDUDE by the same F'n people on this forum...and most of them arent like that unless wheeldude makes a post. Its like they have something person against the fact that he sells something other than Volks, which is rediculous. Every vendor on here sells something besides Volks and noone bashes them when they post...blah blah blah /rant
I understand his main purpose on this forum is to sell wheels and I can respect that being a vendor as well, but there is a time and a place for everything. I believe this thread is about "why DO people purchase Volk wheels" and not "why do people purchase wheels other than Volk wheels" or "why people have switched from Volks to another brand and how satisfied are they after the switch."
In any case I agree with those who have posted that this thread need not be created since it has no validity. We have all been blessed with the ability to make our own choices and as far as I know "what wheels do I want to put on my car" is another one that we are all privy to decide on our own.
The fact of the matter is that if you go on ANY car forum you will see styling trends amongst the members of those forums. There are just some manufacturers that "hit the nail on the head" when creating products for specific platforms. Yes, advertising plays a big part in it but if the end product does not deliver it will not sell well for long.
Volks and Works for the most part happen to be the wheel of choice amongst 350z owners that frequent this forum. If you go on a Civic or Scion forum you will probably take notice that most of the members there own wheels cheaper in price than Volks such as Konigs. If you go on a Porsche or Ferrari forum you will probably take notice that most of the owners own wheels more expensive than Volks such as HRE, BBS or Dymags. SURPRISE! As Adam said to me today when we were discussing this topic at the shop "It shouldn't come as any surprise that an individual's wheel choice is often commensurate with their income" and this goes for anything any individual purchases. Volks and Works have just so happened to fit within the "wheel budget" of most 350z owners since the start of this board. This car is now currently out of production and only available in the used car market and is such you will see it becoming very attainable to those who don't necessarily earn much. I'd going to bet that you will see more people purchasing used higher-end wheels or less-expensive new wheels as time goes on and let me be clear in saying that I see nothing wrong with that.

Which is fine, I don't go around calling my shine amuse bumper authentic.
