Default Powdercoating RAYS: What color?

I like the look of aftermarket wheels, but I like the lightness of the stock 18's. So to add a little something different and to save money, I'm going to add spacers and powdercoat the RAYS, but I can't decide what color I want to do.

What color do you think I should powdercoat them?

Gunmetal

Flat Black

Light Gold

Thanks,
Victor

In general I like the dark look wheels but I'm not crazy about the darker look with the bright blue car. I think the lighter wheels look much more striking with that color car (especially with a front grill that matches).

heheheh, i saw it coming, but that's the color we are most likely going to do, since my dad doesn't like black.

When I first saw the signature pictures posted, I thought that you had already gone with black. I really like the gloss black powder-coat on my red track. People either hate them or love them...no one says they're just OK. pics in redline thread. show your dad. lol.

I don't know about your blue Z. Gold wheels would not be my first choice. I don't like the Blue WRX Subaru's with gold wheels. Sort of looks like new 'luxury' cars that have gold instead of chrome trim.

There are many shades of grey from silver to charcoal. A mid shade of grey might look good.

the gold does lighten things up. but not quite as noticable on the blue honestly, atleast the light gold, its not too far from silver.

the black is a bit over powering, but not bad...

Im not much help here am I? If I had to choose... flat black. your PS is a bit shiny still tho.

after I look at it, the gold is clashing with the brembos.

Id go with gunmetal. Flat black would be just that...flat. You would hardly see anything. With gunmetal, atleast you can make out the style of wheels but also giving you a dark/aggressive look.

I was planning on doing the same with my stock 18's. Just something to differentiate from others until I build up my pennies in my piggy bank to buy aftermarket ones.

Or you can go gunmetal w/polished lip! Even with the small lip on the rays!

2-300$, it will not fade as far as Ive ever heard, but I guess that depends on the quality of the materials used...

it should be clear coated after the power coat, that is likely way more than powder coating.

Discussed clear coating with the powder coating shop. Clear coat comes in full gloss or satin finish. Didn't want to clear coat my powder coated rims. wanted to keep it '80% gloss' black. I just waxed the rims like any other paint. No problem yet.

I like the gunmetal. It complements the brakes quite nicely.

In any case, however you want to do it, try to get all your badges, emblems, and door handles the same color. Do a Photo-chop and see how it comes out...

clean chop... I'm diggin the flat black. I for one definitely would not go with the gold wheels, too Subaru-ish as somebody pointed out. I think your gold chop was a little bit off though IMHO.

Wish ya luck however u choose

I voted for flat black, but I absolutely LOVE rims that are off the wall and unique. The Gold rims look good on the car, but I would probably make them a deeper gold color.

You've actually given me some ideas on what I should do with my track rims. Thanks.
