Default Need budget track tire advice plz!

I'd like to get some stickier tires for the Z. I'm going to the track next month, but just bought 4 GoPro HD cameras & 32gb SDHC cards... which cut deeply into my tire budget.

What's a good sticky track tire to mount on my 19x8.5, 19x.9.5 wheels in the $200/ea price range. I'd prefer to spend around $800 instead of $1200 right now. I don't daily drive my Z any more, but occassionally take it out on the streets.

Currently running 245/35/19 x 275/35/19 Falken 452's which are unimpressive to me... is this the best I can get for that price range though?

Why don't you look into some 17x10 wheels all around if your going to track the car?... Also tires would be even cheaper!... Oh, yes you are right FK452's Suck Big Donkey *****... Especially for the price!

A used set of 17s with tires (I have two sets if you're interested) or your stock 18s with new tires.

OP you dont have a bbk listed in your mods in your sig, so id take the others advice, downsize your track wheels. what you spend to buy some used 17s or 18s will pay for itself over buying 19s and the ease of finding tires will be worth it alone

depending on bbk 17 may clear and 17 are cheaper than 18 by a good bit thats why i didnt get super crazy big brakes. they cleared stock brembos and some stoptech.

You are hurting yourself with running 19" wheels. The selection is slim, virtually nothing besides what you have already cheap. If you were running 18" wheels, I was going to recommend RT-615's.

Dam... so I'm going to have to get 18's it seems eventually. I don't have the budget for a new set of 18's and track tires for them too though at the moment. :\

I might just have to suck it up with the Falken's this time around... unless someone wants to give me a big discount on some tires for the 19's in exchange for your name in the movie credits!

I think you're putting the cart before the horse with buying the cameras before the tire/wheel combo.

I'm going to Buttonwillow February 21st, it's $100 for 7x20min sessions. Hellaflush 3.5 is happening that day there as well, along with some drift events. I'm doing the track part solo so far, although registration is up to 36 cars. I'm caravanning down with some Hellaflush fatlace crew my friend knows.

Found it, cool: https://my350z.com/forum/southern-ca...2-21-10-a.html

36 cars on the west track should be fun. Not quite the excitement of the full track, but it's something for you to look forward to. We go to Thunderhill a lot for full track days if/when you're interested.

BTW, you could put some R888 tires on those stock 18s you were selling which will give you good stick for relatively cheap.

^ I don't get it, what's wrong with hellaflush shows? Never been to one yet, but VIP cars with flush wheels look nice I think.

I'm definitely interested to go to Thunderhill next time you go Scott, it'll have to be before March 20th though, I leave to Virginia then, and will be storing the Z for quite some time.

I would get some r888s for the 18's, but I sold those months ago too :/

Ah, I get it now. You don't want to run any of your stock wheels because they're not stretched or flush.

Well, there certainly are sticky 19" tires, but you're going to spend good $ on them AND they won't be optimal for track conditions.

Honestly, I'd just run on whatever you currently have. No one is going to be all that fast given the show part of the event; it's likely more easy-lapping than 95% driving. If it were me, I'd drive down on my "show" wheels, then swap out to stickies for the lapping part of the event. You can fit a set of four wheels in the Z - I do it all the time when I don't take my wife to events with me.
