Default Replacing Volk/Rays Stickers on Wheels

I have the blue Volk stickers on my TE's, thinking of replacing them with the black versions. Easy as hair dryer/peel? Thanks

I know it's been a couple weeks since you posted this, but I will answer for posterity and maybe help out someone else looking to do this.

To answer your question, yes, I just did it on my wheels. I used a heat gun instead of a hair dryer, and I was pretty particular about making sure there were no scratches, so it took about 15 mins per wheel. They don't just fall off...

Here are pics of differences between the reproductions I purchased from Dali Racing, figured I could live with it for 25% of the price of OEMs (blue are OEM, black are repos).

Differences:

1) OEM stickers end at outline, repos extend beyond the outline.
2) OEM has "Racing Wheel" outlined separately (top set of pics)
3) OEM removes excess in detail areas (look between the legs of the "R", the middle of the "A" and between the "Y" and the "S" in the bottom set of pics)
4) OEM has an overall thinner outline.

Now for a subjective observation: The reproductions seem to be more "stark" on the wheel, whereas the OEMs blend in more when viewed from a distance.

I am still trying to decide if I am going to leave them on or not.

Actually, I just did the other side of the car, and the heat gun ended up being completely unnecessary. I used only a credit card, and it was just as easy.

Great job gr8scott_o! Excellent post. Any issues with Dali Racing? Did you just order online? On a few other forums there have been quite a bit of complaints regarding their lack of customer service.

I've ordered two sets of stickers from Dali-racing in the past couple weeks. Since I am in California, I've received them in two days. I was a bit reluctant too but I decided to go ahead and order it. I have had no issues so far with ordering stickers.

Yeah, I agree with Rodizzle... no issues with ordering stickers from him. Mine came in a few days, and because I ordered two sets he was able to ship in same envelope and refunded one of the shipping charges. I would rate the experience as positive.

I should have said "as long as you have authentic Volk valve stems, you are fine".

Bump for an old thread. I'm going to do this and replace my black stickers with blue. Did anyone experience lifting of the paint when removing the stickers? If that's the case, I'll stick with what's on the wheels.

Dali is close with the stickers, but they def need to get the outlines right and the cut marks better. It's easy to fix those. Just offset the stroke on the racing wheels and add a 1/8" color bleed around the entire sticker so when they are cut the color is at the end. I do a lot of printed vinyl graphics and this is such an easy fix. If copyright infringement wasn't such a big deal I could replicate these easy.

I do however have 4 authentic Volk Racing Wheel stickers in black. I didn't put them on my LE37T wheels since they have the gold limited edition sticker and rays sticker.
