Default tire size all same

So just found out my rims and tires are all same size. All 4 are 245/40/18. It's causing TCS to kick in in 6th gear at highway speeds. Am I boned and need to buy new rims or if I just turn TCS off is it all kosher?

Yes turning off the TCS will work, you will have to press the button each time you start the engine though. Remember to be extra careful in on wet roads if you are driving with the system off.

Jennifer 2 provides very accurate and good advice here:

Additional Comments:
If you run all-square, you should not run the front tire diameter all around (245/40-18” or similar tire diameter). Running the front tire size in an all-square setup will activate VDC and TCS.

If you run all-square, you should run the rear tire diameter front and rear (245/45-18” or similar tire diameter). You will not have interference from TCS and VDC if you run the rear size in an all-square setup.

I run staggered with my summer wheel/tire setup.

During the winter I mount all square so that I can rotate my studless snow tires. It’s no fun buying snow tires for a performance car; I want to extend the tires’ life.

I noticed that an all-square setup worked better with VDC and TCS when I mounted the rear size diameter all around instead of the front size diameter.

Default Squared Set Up for 9.5" wheels

Whats up guys. I just picked up a set of 9.5" wide rims. Im looking to run a squared tire set up. My understanding is that as long as the overall diameter is within +/- 3% I should not have any problems with VDC. I looked up the size difference between 255/40 and 265/40 and looks like 265/40 is the best choice right now:

225/45: 255/40 is .25% and 265/40 is 1.44%
Name: 22545.jpg
Views: 2316
Size: 33.9 KB

245/45: 255/40 is -2.43% and 265/40 is -1.25%
Name: 24545.jpg
Views: 2291
Size: 35.7 KB

Looking for some personal experience with this set up.

Thanks,
CJ

For VDC to function properly the front tire needs to be shorter than the rear. The % difference is the ratio from front to rear, compare them, vs the front to rear you want to run. 265/35 front and 265/40 rear would be a functioning square system.

Been running on 265/40s for almost a year now including two visits to the track. Not a single VDC issue to date. I have been very pleased with this setup.

Good information. Thanks for posting. I think your success with this setup is because you're running all-square with close-to the rear tire size. I have the same experience: All-square on a 350z works best if you mount a size that is closer to the rear tire size.

So for a 18X10.5 +15 setup what would perform better out of these choices? and will I need a roll? stock height right now but will probably drop 1.2 or so in the future.
I want v12's and this is what tirerack has:

265/35
265/40
275/35
275/40
285/30
285/35
295/30

The diameter of your tires isn't what is causing an issue with your trac and stability systems, it's the lack of staggered height. Your car doesn't actually know or care how fast you're going, only the relative rpm of your rear wheels versus the front. The reason issues arise at higher speeds is because the trac system runs off of relative percent 'slip', where this is amplified due to the square diameter.

Pretty common setup, I would look thru this thread https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-...thread-32.html

Default Square set up on a stock 06' Base RPF1 help??

Tire size Currently - stock, looking for options though.
Real question here is what size wheels should I get, am looking at Enkei RPF1's and I know some guys are running 10.5 wide 18 inch Enkei Rpf1's with 15 mm offset on all 4 corners of their Z's with stock fenders, but they are running 265/35-18 tires, rather then 265/45, thus throwing off the speedo a bit.
stock camber
stock height

Pretty much, I want to know what the widest wheel I can run is, and what xxx/xx-18 tires I should run to get as much rubber down, on stock suspension, without rubbing, and without rolling the fenders. And I want to have it all squared up, that is to say, same wheels and tires on all 4 corners. Would 10 inch wides work? Could I pull of 10.5? I do plan on coil overs and lowering one day, but when that day comes, fender rolling will if it needs to as well....though, it doesn't throw off the speedometer that much I'm sure? So could I pull off 10.5's with 265/35s?New idea - Square 10" setup with 275/35-18 or 285/35-18's, should be doable surely? without a roll? Bit more explaining - Car is stock, has old warn tires, so Im looking at wheels for same time as tires, car is a DD, and I want to Auto X it..so best square set up for a DD and Auto X car that can be worked into a future more competative Auto X car??

Sooo, I have no idea how this ended up as a comment on this page??? O.o but..it works I guess, lol

Will it fit with the right pull, stretch ect....or is it to close to the control arm and coilovers ect?

This car seems to be doing it but no info if he did it with ease.

Since this thread is for square setups, I would run the 275/30 all around or the 275/30 up front with the proper 275/35 rear

275/30/19 rears are way too thin. I have those on my Evo which looks great on that car, but not so much on the Z. Looks like rubberbands in the rear if you're not going for the slammed/stanced style.
