Is this a track car or DD? If it's the latter you may want to keep the stagger, otherwise it can get a little squirrely on the highway.

I'm running a square set up on mine, 265s. I drive it every day even in the rain and have had no problems. To me the car is much easier to control and more predictable. Even if it gets sideways it feels natural and still easy to control.

Hey guys - I just got a 350z Performance and I didn't realize until now that the wheels are 18x8 all the way around. I have read briefly that running the same size tire all the way around could mess with VDC but I don't really understand how. Some people say that it's "bigger" so it will be spinning at a different rate - is this referring to the fact that tire measurements are based on the ratio of width to height? So upping from 225/45R18 to 245/45R18 would give me a higher width to height ratio, meaning my sidwalls will be slightly taller? If this is the case, how much does it actually mess with VDC? I thought I read somewhere that the difference in size had to be within +/- 3% of the original (which the two heights are right around 2.99%). Or is it that they always have to be 3% different (as in rear has to be 3% bigger than front)? I just think it would be intelligent to run a square setup and I've also heard that it improves handling by virtually eliminating understeer.

With your 18x8 wheels you can run 245/40-18 all around, VDC/TCS/ABS will be effected and most likely need to be turned off any time the car is driven. You can also run 245/40 front and 245/45 rear , get all the same benifits but your electronics will still be usable.

If your buying wheels and they recommend a 245/45-17, you are doing something wrong. The most popular tire size for 17's is a 275/40 front and rear , not really for the daily drivers and requires a minimum of 17x9 .

I was going to go with 18's, but the 5 set's of matching 18's they had didn't come with a mileage warranty. I've had defective tires replaced before so I felt it neccesary.

I wanted to stay as close to OEM as possible if I was going to stay with 17's. It is my DD

Just keep it stock then, and add spacers, your car will look a hell of a lot better.

That won't allow me to rotate the tires, though.

No need , the Z typically wears out the inside of the tire front and rear. To rotate you must dismount and flip the tire. If tire rotation is that big of a deal, I hear there are some great deals on the Scion TC or Honda Civic .

Haha 'nuff said. It's not a huge deal but it was initially a thought that it would be more fiscally responsible to be able to rotate my tires. But if it's not a huge deal then I'll just keep the stagger.

Okay now I'm thinking about going with 18x9.5 all the way around. Hopefully I won't have any regrets.

I can attest to terrasmak's recommendation. I went with the Continental Extreme Contact DWs with 245/40 front and 245/45 rear on the stock V1 Tourings. I am very happy with the choice. The car is much more neutral now with significantly reduced understeer.

By regets I just meant as far as how the stance looks. I was originally thinking about going with 18x9F-18x10R for a more aggressive look.

If you want aggressive run 10 front and rear.

I heard that 10" didn't fit up front (without modification)

A 7.5" would need modification if the offset is low enough. Standard offset in a 10 is fine.
