^ Looks good man. Spacers in the back will also make it look better

Question

Been lurking here for a few weeks now. Read this thread twice, and the Varrstoen thread once.

And here is what I'm thinking:

XXR 521 Silver Machined
18x10 +12 (x4)
265/35/18 (x4)

I have a black 2003 Base Z.

I bought it fairly cheap and don't want to put a whole lot of money into it due to the fact I may sell it at a profit for a newer lower mileage Z.

I only want to lower it with springs, and I realize I may have to roll the rear fenders.

I may even get some spacers to get the right look.

What do you guys think? And what springs do you think I will need?

Thanks in advance.

265-35 are too small for the rear. not gonna look right and its gonna mess with the whole abs/wheel speed sensors.

Well I thought the idea of a square setup is to be rotatable and you can't do that running 2 different sizes on the same size wheel.

Can someone explain how it will affect abs/speed sensor?

I understand the speedo will be off.

either way you go through tires at the same rate. fronts last so long its ridiculous. i think they will get dry rot before i use up all the tread.( using bridgestone re760). id figure 3 sets of rears for every set of fronts.

so, imo its not worth throwing off your speed and having the rear tires look to skinny.

My concern with different sized tires between front and rear on same size rim is that the sidewall height will be different and possibly the stretch/aspect ration of tires will be different. This doesn't look funny or bother anyone.

Chime in if you are running this setup.

well, the rear is supposed to have a bigger side wall then the front...look at any rear wheel drive car. nsx, corvette, 370z, m3. if anything, having a skinny tire in the rear look funny.

I had those wheel specs only the fronts were 245's. xxr's cheap asses makes it so that you can't put 20mm spacers on the wheels cause they don't have the "gaps" in the back of the wheels that are necessary so get the +25 offset wheels and get 25mm spacers. Trust me you will thank me later.

also to anyone who looked at my car with the gold xxr's and liked it, it had bigger sidewalls in the front and no one ever said anything negative about it.

How big of spacers can you slip on with stock lugnuts?

How do you guys think a black Z would look with 18x10 +12 square in flat black?

12x1.25 pitch..they say after you screw it down the same distance as the diameter, that is all you need. so the min turns of the lug to have full strength is 9.6 turns of the lug nut, or 12mm. so now you need to know the thickness of the wheel where the lug sits against and the length of the stud and you have your answer on how big of a spacer you can run. (if you have aluminum lugs, dont run spacers on stock studs. )

or you can just run a 5mm spacer....

im looking into the 18x8.75 and 18x9.75. They are +20 offset, I have 235-45-18 front tires and 245-45-18 rear tires. With the +20 offset, what should I expect? Will that fit well? will they stick out real bad?

to give you some perspective, my car is on 18x10.5 +20 on all four.

an 8.75 +20 on the front would be 22 mm less to the outer edge, a 9.75 +20 on the back would be 10mm less to the outside edge. It wouldnt look too bad. Dont know about the tires sizes though, im having a hard time imagining what a 45 series would look like in my head lol.

265/35's rear would look perfect on that wheel along with a 15 mil spacer.

Fronts look good.
