Default Continental Extreme Continental DW vs. Hankook Ventus V12 K110 Evo

Got the Continentals. Will add a review after I get a couple thousand miles on them. So far they are very quiet and comfortable yet still grip great.

Please chime in if you have experience with either of these tires.
  • How many miles do you have on the tires?
  • How many miles do you think you will get out of them?
  • What sizes are you running?
  • How would you rate:
    • Dry handling and response
    • Wet handling and response
    • Ride quality and noise level

Will be buying a pair of 285/35-19 soon. Continentals are only 24 lbs versus 29 lbs for the Hankooks, so that is appealing. On the other hand, the Hankooks will be at least $100 cheaper.

Thanks for any input!

Tires I have in the rear are Continental DW:

How many miles do you have on the tires? - around 2000
How many miles do you think you will get out of them? probably a lot more haha
What sizes are you running? 265/40/18
How would you rate: 10/10 but its my opinion
Dry handling and response - awesome
Wet handling and response - awesome
Ride quality and noise level - ride quality is great and noise levels are almost non-existent

I really can't complaint about these tires. If I had the money when I bought them, I would have bought the fronts too. They are kinda pricey.

The front tires that I have are Nankang NS-II and honestly they are some nice tires for the price.

Thanks for your input. What other comparable tires have you run on the Z?

I did have Nito NT555's when I bought the car and they were a hard rubber and made lots of road noise. Then what I did was installed my rims but only the rear at the time bc I couldn't find a shop to install the fronts (long story) but once I installed my rear Continentals I noticed that the road noise went down a lot and then once I installed the Nankang up front the road noise went down even more. Honestly, once my rear Continentals wear out I will probably switch to the Nankangs all around.

Glad to hear they outperform the Nittos. Thanks.

DO NOT BUY THE HANKOOKS.

i bought them, after a performance shop recommended them. did a little dd... and i said sure, theyre pretty cheap relative to what i was replacing (t1-r's) and no one had said anything negative...

well i was very unhappy with the purchase at around 8k miles. traction went to ****... wet and dry... and the tread wear is MUCH faster than the t1-r's i had. granted- i am lowered... but my toyos did not eat up anywhere near as quickly as the hankooks.

i got 14k from them... and i now have t1-r's again.

my old car i used continental extreme's... and they were great. idk how they'd be on a performance car though.

14K on the Z doesn't sound too bad, but traction diminishing at 8K is disheartening. My spring an extra $166 for the continentals.

why not get toyo t1-r's or falken fk452's?
known tires that perform well on the z

but 14k is bad when i can get 20k on tires that are $40 more a piece

T1-Rs are still an option in the back of my mind, but I have heard that traction and tread life are worse than my current BFG KDWs.

Hankook owner here. Love them. 245/35/19 up front and 275/35/19 in the rear. Mega upgrade considering I had super cheap no name tires on with the stock wheels (04 base) before these. Handling gets a 9/10 in the dry and sorry I can't give a wet rating since I'm here in Hawaii and we haven't had rain in a while. Road noise is low. I can't say much on wear since I've only had them on for about 1000 miles. Hope this helps.

That is what I have been running for my last two sets. Looking for a little more comfort and a little less noise.

Continental guys - there are two problems I have read up on:

1) Vague feel in straight lines, not committed or planted well on the interstate
2) Hard to get balanced/ remain in balance

Have you had either of these issues?

First impression of the Continentals is a good one. I will update the thread when I get some miles on them.

Haven't had the #1 issues at all but then again I only have them in the rear, might make a difference up front

As far as balancing, I haven't had a issue with them getting balanced. When I first got them on they balanced perfect on the first try. Sorry for a late response to the questions bro. Glad that the first impression was good.

So far on my rear Continentals, I am still happy with them after a good amount of miles on them. I drove the car down to the beach a few weeks ago and even after driving 4 hours they still performed great. Let us know once you put some miles on them.

broke one of the bands that holds my tpms sensors on and got my alignment further out of spec and want to charge me for a second alignment once I install my camber arms and toe bolts.
