tirerack offers a 19x9 and 10.5 setup now, but i wanted to see pics of the front lip. ive seen some different scenarios with the 8.5 version, and the lip just wasnt big enough. does anybody have any? thanks

lip size is also dependent on offset, not just width

lip is also dependent on whether the wheel was constructed with a high(big caliper clearance) or low disk design. so any pics would be greatly appreciated. ive seen a few GT3 in the gallery with a decent size front lip then other with no lip at all. makes me wonder.

Few month ago, I order ssr gt3 from tire rack through america's tire company. I ordered 18x8.5 for the front and 18x9 for the rear. When I got the wheels installed, I was very surprised & upset. The lips on the 18x9 was smaller than the lips on 18x8.5. Once again, THE LIPS ON THE 18X8.5 WAS LARGER than THE LIPS ON 18x9. The funny thing was they both had same offset so I called tirerack and they did not belive me. So I took my car back to the america's tire company and had them call tirerack to investigate. What tirerack did was send someone down to the warehouse to measure the lips on both 18x8.5 & 18x9. To their surprise I was right. They had no idea that 18x8.5 had a BIGGER LIPS than 18x9. What I end up doing was sending 18x9 back & getting 18x10.5 in the rear. Just because the width is wider does not mean the lips are bigger. In SSR GT3 case, SSR made the bore of the 18x9 wheels thicker so even though the offset was about the same on 18x.8.5 had bigger lips.

When tirerack called SSR, they made the change to make the wheels stronger but failed to notify Tirerack.

So be careful.

It may be different on the 19" wheel but on 18", I had a whole issue with it.

i just got off the phone with tirerack and i got some specs from them on the widths:

A. 8.5 +37 has a 30mm lip and 45mm x-factor
B. 8.5 +30 has a 53mm lip and 28mm
C. 9 +31 has a 36mm lip and 49mm
D. 10.5 +43 has a 65mm lip and 28mm

x-factor=being the amount of caliper clearance. Option A is for supras with big calipers. B is for 350Z non-track models. C is for 350Z track models (big brakes). which explains why some Z have a big fron t lip and some have small ones.

Thats what I was talking about. I did not know about that so I went through hell. 18x 8.5 had a bigger lips than18x9.
