Default tire size on stock 18's??

Hello everyone

i have been searching for about 2 days now for the answer to my question and so far i have been unable to find it.

I have an 06 and its time for new tires. I want to get tires that are wider from the stock tire sizes. I was looking at 245/35/18 and 265/35/18 but im not sure if they will fit the stock 18 inch rims? Im also not sure if they would look good on my z or will my z look like an suv? what would be the best tire size to put on the stock 18's??

Or would 245/40/18 and 275/40/18 work? Im planning on getting Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 tires. btw car is at stock ride hieght.

Im planning on getting rims for my car in about a year and a half after i graduate.

Thank you guys for your time!

245/40 front and 245/45 or 265/40 rear is what you're limited to.

For what reason do you think you need wider tires?

I'd go with 335/30's all the way around on the stock 8" wheels. Be just a little pinch, but you should be good to go .

I just want a little more of a wider look for the rear wheels. But I think I might stay with the oem specs, im not sure if i might run into any issues by going wider with the stock rims...

thanks terrasmak

Same height as stock, if you think its an SUV now, you will think the same later. Going to shorter tires like you mentioned will cause the SUV look.

You want to put a 275 mm tire on a 8.5 inch wheel? OK cool.

I've ran 245/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rear with no problems at all, some say you could do 275 rear but that's up to you. I personally wouldn't go with the 45 series as you will probably be at 4x4 stance without a drop.

265/40 or 275/40 have the same tire height as a 245/45 (stock) so they really don't change the stance (make it 4x4)

275/40 on an 8.5 will handle like ***, even on a 9 inch wheel they handle like *** unless you get a set with really stiff sidewalls ( KDW, NT05 )

In the picture to the right in Msg. #16:

The tread appears to not lay flat. If that's the case, the tire is probably too wide for the wheel.

... Or, maybe it's just an optical effect from a wide angle lense?

I run the NT-05 tires, 245/40-18 in front, 275/40-18 in the rear. I like the wider tire look in the back as well, and with the NT-05's the car still handles great for my everyday driving. Those tire specs are about the closest you can get (outside of OEM's) while keeping the speedometer honest. Works well for me.
