OP: I am very sorry to hear about your experience with Rick. However as a local customer I can assure you Rick is a good guy and will give you every single penny back if that's what it takes to make you happy. However I do agree with your statment about poor customer service. Rick needs help when dealing with multi forum orders. I have been down to his shop many times and he just has "too much going on" for 1 person to handle.
good luck and hope all works out for the best.

On everything you wrote Mario, I'm sure Rick will take care of him.
This saddens me. I don't have a TON of experience dealing with Rick but I got my wheels from him and everything went PERFECTLY smooth. He even threw in an extra set of Volk centercaps in my order, and then replaced a rays lug that I lost with two used that he had laying around, didn't charge me shipping for any of the extra stuff (even the lugs) and took tons of time answering all my questions as I was a wheel NOOOOOB back then! I think I even remember asking him what an offset was lol!
So I'm holding on to my opinion of him until we hear from him here. But first and foremost I want you to get your refund or wheels+compensation cause thats what I would personally expect from him based on my experience. C'mon Rick I still want to go to you for my next set of wheels!!!!!!!

I call daily with no luck. If someone does answer they ask who is calling and put you on hold, only to come back and say he isn't here. So I try later on with someone saying oh he just left. I send messages also with no response, then check to see when he was last online and sometimes it's the same day they were sent. I have called the last two days now with no one answering.
i used to get the same type of thing too. Waited for 2 months for the Volk GTS first sets to come in. He sold my set to another member and told me that they didnt ship as many sets as he had hoped. So i would have to wait for another 2-3 months. I said nope give me back my deposit. Fortunately i did get my deposit back!
Hello everyone!
DavesZ the moderator had pm me this link.
So i have nothing bad to say about Chase and i understand if he's mad about his $650 refund, and his wheels taking long time. And that's good that he had the time to write this and say what he feel's.
1.You can look at most of the wheels that is custom make in japan or oversea right now and see that long it take to make Volk or SSR or Works, 90-up.
Why? Do you think when you order 1 set like 4 wheels. They are going to stop the whole warehouse and make 1 set just for you first? No!
Everyone get's in line.
Yes Chase order his 9.5et15+11et15.And when we got our Ocean shipment,my guys in the back had a list of 19's and 20's that he needed to mount and balance with tires to ship. And we had 3 set of wheels that came with Air shipping. So one of the new worker saw a 19's sliver color spirit wheels and just mounted it with out checking the offset and rear wheels. So the wheels that came from air shipping for "Canada guy" went to Chase.
But 3 wheels got to chase and 1 box had got bang up from fedex.Anyway we had to repackage it,So, what you think i want to send 3 wheels and not 4? come on.
So after Chase called and said he got the last wheel i was like cool! everything is ok and he's going to be happy,so i was like send me some pictures so i can put it on my web site
Then a few days later he called back and said hey rick i got the wrong offset!
So i was like what? And then i had the track what went out.And found that the wheels that came by air shipping was for the Canada guy!
So then it was cool of Chase that he help out and repackage it and got them to go to the right guy.
So then after all that i told Chase hey bro this is what i will do,and go out of my way to take care of him, since he was really understanding.
The wheels was sold to him at $2600.00. But i will knock off $400.00 off for a sponsor price! So he said ok,so we order a new sent for him.
And that new wheels that we made him is almost here already.
So the whole ticket was
$2600 wheels
$1000 Toyo tires 255+275
$250 ground shipping
$3850 pretty near $4000 like he said.
So out of that i'm giving him back $650.00 just for the time and being understand about everything. But we didn't have to but i did it for him anyway. So $3200.00 for wheels made from work japan tires and shipping to his door.So that about the price.
Now about his refund or $$ his waiting for.1st check was made out with a company check.Chase didn't get it,ok.So we Put a stop check on it ,so we had to pay a fee for that.
And now,got him a money order$$.Chase didn't get that.Put in another stop check on that!.Pay another fee.Ask him if he had paypal so i can do it right away, but he didn't have paypal,ok mail me another.
3rd time company check.
Do you really think i'm trying to jack $650.00?
We have been here on my350z.com/g35driver.com since May 2005 THAT'S 6 YEARS!
And we are still here! Do you know how many people that was here on my350z and now are close! Many!
Some of you here didn't even own a Z yet at that time.
We are a full retail shop not some on line company selling parts. We don't have 20 guys picking up phone all days and that's our bad
But if we had 20 guys picking the phone then your cost for parts will be more due to cost of keeping the door's open.
Shipping wheels from oversea!
No one want to pay $700.00 more more for air shipping,so ocean shipping is the way,we have no control over that. Some times the eta is off.But if your in the shipping business then you may understand. But i'm not going to get into it.
Well we are not here trying to make a excuses, but just want people to see the story behind the reseller side.
Now a days, it's not like shop are make like 25%-50% on parts. We make Just too keep the door's open.As most of you know the automotive industry is having a hard times in this economy. But we are still working hard in keeping the door's open for people that loves aftermarket!
Anyway tomorrow i will write up something about that, and fill everyone in.
I have talk to a lot of people in the industry, but no one want to write up about what's really going on.
Thank you and love you all

By the way on your case i didn't sell your wheels to some one,Volk USA sold them. But they are not going to tell you that.I have to,and i'm the one that look's bad!
That's what i mean, the retailer always the ones that look's bad.
But who's going know? No one but us.
Good parts are always from oversea and we all have to wait, that's just the way it's been,so sad

I've heard of the following issues that can arrise:
-The company needs to wait until the container is full enough to ship
-Ocean time for going across the Pacific
-Delays at the port for unload/customs
-Delays at port for accessing the container
-Delays with sorting through the container contents

Update:
Rick called a little while ago and we spoke for sometime. As I stated earlier, this thread was not intended to bash Rick or VIP, I simply wanted an answer or response. When Rick called me I got just that. He provided me with a tracking number for the check he is sending and updated me about my rim order. I understand things happen, just like in all of our job fields a delay can occur. After this is all said and done I am still the type of person to leave him positive feedback for taking the time to break it down, when he didn't have to.

not only does a container need to get full
the manufacturer needs to get a certain amount of orders for A particular offset and disk type in order to change the tooling on the machinery which VIP is not mentioning
so they have no control on orders coming in
if they changed the tooling and only built wheels in the exact order to keep a customers place in line , the cost of the wheels would be 3 x the amount and instead of paying $3000 for a set of wheels you would pay $7000 for a set as the bulk of the work day at the manufacturer would be spent changing tooling in order to make rims in the exact order that your place is in line
so again they wait until they have a certain amount of diameter, disk type , and offset before it pays for them to change the tooling on the manufacturing equipment to go ahead and produce a run
bottom line is they are trying to be efficient in manufacturing to keep costs down
they can give you an estimate and say rims take 60 -90 days when in fact it can take 60 days to 4 months from the time you order your set with the vendor

Here's a vote of confidence for Rick. I live in Hawaii, and he has always come through even shipping out here. Bought a set of RGIIs, which I actually bargained down... and he was cool with it. Then I bought a set of TE-37s, which again, bargained down to a competitors price. Super nice and cool guy. Always got service when I called.
I think that's the disconnect Rick, they don't know or refuse to acknowledge how long it actually takes a shipment to come from Japan.
