I do not like a 275 mm tire on a 8.5 inch wheel but it can be done:

Wheel: 216 mm
Tire: 275 mm

You bought 19x8.5 front and rear? If so 245/35 front and 245/40 rear.

OP, use this site to help you make your decision. It tells you, among other things, the recommended wheel widths for the tire size you enter:

yes 8.5 all around. i have a friend that have a set of Michelins 245/40 and 275/40 so I was thinking in using thosee, rears look badass, but yes I know 275/40 is to wide for a 8.5 wheel

Post 6 is a great answer. Better yet, return or don't buy them.

OP I have 19 x 8.5 as my DD wheels. It's a nice square setup. I use 245/40/19 tires. I like the neutral feel that the square setup offers vs. a staggered setup. On my AutoX rims I run a 245/40/18 all around until next year when I step up to 285's all around.
