LOL the link to the thread said "Leg nuts" so I was going to recommend Gold Bond.

But seriously, I have been using a set of closed-end Muteki lug nuts and have not experienced any technical issues with them. I always torque to 80 lb-ft and haven't had one break, and they seem to hold their torque. I've yet to have one sieze up on me either. About $45 for the set of 20 which includes the special spline-type socket required to remove them. My only complaint is that the finish is pretty weak and some more of the color (mine are red) comes off every time I put the socket on them.

The best and affordable lug nuts period are....... McGard Spline Drive Lug Nuts. You can get 16 lug + 4 locking nuts for $100 shipped.

**** mutekis. Seriously... as someone else posted, some of my red anodizing came off when I INSTALLED them the first time, and much more every time I touch them. The'ye really cheaply made. Get project kics, even the lower priced ones are light-years better than any mutekis.

McGard has good quality though, I had a set of their locks with no problems.

Ive had Buddy Club, Blox and Titek and I have never had any problems with them. Most light weight lugs will break or strip when using an impact gun so you will want to do everything by hand.

Here is a good site for lugs

I believe Rays lug nuts are forged, which also good ones except paint chipping issue.

Rays nuts are straight garbage cast aluminum (unless someone can correct me).

and they have a really awful key for the locked unit.

I have destroyed two sets by hand... and their color fades quickly.

Invest in closed end kics. Kics quality is unsurpassed based on my experience.

That is all.

I agree with both post above. McGard is one of the finest one you can get and will not have any issues with them.

^ those are good.

I use Gorilla lug nuts from your local Discount tire.
About 30-40 bucks for the set. get two keys.

Enclosed:

I don't care about purdy or titanium or blue or any of that crap....I remove wheels very often being an avid drifter and have never had a problem..they are strong!

How baller are you?
I used to have $400 Titanium burned lugs on my old Z.

Personally, I love the Trust / Greddy brand of lugs. These are strong, don't scuff easily with the socket, and are just as light as the Rays duralumin lugs.

go lightweight, you'll spend anywhere from $60-150 depending on the brand you choose but you'll have a better quality lug overall.

Mcgard if you want a quality lug nut that will hold up over the years. They steel plate their lugs so they don't chip or flake. They also have a nice two piece design that protects the wheel finish and provides even lug torque.

IMO there is no need to spend more on Project Kics/Rays unless you are after that type of style or color. I've used them all over the years and would suggest Mcgard.

I dont understand all this bad Muteki stuff but i have the R40 neo chrome Mutekis and have had them for a while now...no fade, no scratches, impact or torque wrench they hold up great, i get alot of compliments.

Rays are good for what they are, but aluminum lugs strip insanely easy and cant be manipulated with anything but a hand wrench. Even then ive seen in person many strip over short time. Plus, the colors are horrid and dull, dont match anything, fade quick, arent worth the nothing you save in weight.

Kics R40's are the best IMHO, if you are willing to fork out the dough, and they come with a REAL locking lug, unlike the Muteki's which just include a key that amounts to a smaller size socket.....so not locking. Formulas are cool and all, but are extreme overkill unless you have a show car or something imo.
