Default Rotating weight and hp Q...

Any of you experts out there know how this will affect my hp?

I read somewhere that for every 6lbs of wheel, 1 hp is lost... Is this correct..

Anyways...
Here is the transition:
Now: Stock 17" wheels with stock tires

Soon: Varrstoen 19" TE37 replicas 9.5/10.5
Hankook Ventus V12 245/35 275/35

Any ideas on weight gain/loss and how exactly this will affect acceleration/hp..

Again..noob here...needs help..

I've seen various dart throws on the number, but it's not an exact science. A low HP car will be hurt a lot more by adding 10# to the drive wheels, a high HP car will not. Think if it like a bench press. If you can hit 205# for 4 reps, getting 225# for 2 reps will be hard. If you can bench 315# for 4 reps, getting 335# for 2 reps should be easy.

Our cars are relatively powerful, but you will feel the difference by adding all that weight to the driveline. You have probably added 8# in wheel weight and 5# in tire weight to each corner - that will hurt both because of the added 52# to the car, but more importantly, because of the 26# on the driveline. You have also lengthened your gearing with the taller tire, so that will hurt as well. You will definitely notice it.

This is in the noise. His car will be noticeably slower. At our HP, a fresh set of tires in 235/50/17 will have the same grip as a fresh set of 275/35/19s. The taller sidewall of the 17s may even help a little bit. Now if you compare a nice Bridgestone RE050A PP to a Nankang something-or-other, then that's an unfair comparison.

light is the way to go.. HP hit or not, it changes the feel of the car dramaticaly. Car is snappier and much more fun to drive w light wheels. Hence my car no longer has the giant multipiece wheels in my signature.. now ahs forged light wheels one piece.
SO:
Dont buy TSW or XXR. notoriously heavy.
Varrs? hmm. not sure.

Hmm..thanks.

Seems like a ton of members here have gone with the TE37 Varrstoen reps and similar tires.

Are they all just willing to sacrifice performance that much??

I am not racerx guy by any means, but do enjoy some spirited driving here and there...will I really notice a BIG difference in acceleration with the above mentioned set up?

Hope not..

TSW has two new wheels out, the Interlagos and the Nurburgring - both which have forged outers. 18x10.5 is about 21#. Hopefully they are not part of TSW = The Soft Wheel Company.

stock 17" fronts are 23.26lbs and rears are 24.14lbs.
19x9.5" varrstoen 2.2.1. are 26.2lbs and the 19x10.5's are 28.4lbs.

not a huge difference.

True..relatively it is not a big difference...
but take in consideration:
*the bigger sized tires needed for these wheels weigh more than stock sizes
*this is unsprung/rotational weight, not sprung weight
