will BLIZZAKS help me out on the hills in snow?
i live in an area where there are a lot of hills....i'm about to order a set of Blizzaks (tonight if i can find a good price) for my stock 17's...will the blizzaks make a difference around town with all the hills? even though i read that snow tires make a difference, i'm still skeptical about taking out the Z in snow, but i have not other choice

Well, they're certainly not going to hurt. If you have to drive in snow, then I would definitely get some winter tires on that thing...the stock ones are in no way, shape, or form intended for use in snow.
Blizzaks are among the best winter tires you can get. A friend of mine uses them on his BMW 540i and swears by them. The only down side is that they wear out quick on dry pavement. As long as you're not expecting any miracles, these tires should be fine and the Z should do at least as well as a FWD in the slop.

you will really be "roughing it" (your car and possibly YOU), if you intend to drive the whole winter with stock tires.
NJ winters are much harsher than Cincinnati's and my car isnt touching the outside pavement until Spring.

I think you'll see enough snow that at the least you should consider a good set of M&S all-seasons. Check out the Pirelli P-Zero Nero, and some of the other tires in that price range. An exhaust on a bashed up car won't do you any good son.

Yup
I am looking at some winter tires...I can get around OK in the snow (I grew up in the PA snowbelt) so usually the biggest problem I have is arseholes that don;t know how to drive in the snow..but anyway I noticed that the tires get real hard in the winter and the stocks are difficult to drive on...so I am thinking about some blizzaks..but really I'm looking at a F-150

Unless you have something else like Pilot Sports or PS A/S, don't even try it.
Last, because of the hilly rural area where I live, I can relate, and based on my experiences here with my Altima (lowered with Eibachs only 1"), Clearance is my biggest issue.
Last year I punched in the front of the Alty running over a stupid block of ice in less than 4" of fresh snow...bent some sheet metal.
Check out the front end on the pic called "RubyMetallicAlty95" on the page:

It's hard to see but check the light on the metal in front of the wheel. Very hard to fix w/o replacing the panel (not my priority on a '95!)
I only really want snows on my Z so I can drive it and not get stuck when I get a few inches of snow if the weather changes. Last season I hit 3000 miles Nov-Feb in CT w/o ever driving in snow, but that is a lot of dry cold New England Days...
