Default Advice on wheels.....17" front and 18" rear?

Would this be a bad idea?

Enkie RPF1
17x10+18 front and 18x10.5+15 rear????

Some stock wheels come with 18 front and 19 rear, so why not do the above? I have had the RPF1's before win 18's all around and I have had 17" FN01RC's. So why not mix it up? Would it look stupid? What tire size would I go with? 285/35 or 295/35 rear is a must, but what about the front?

Reason I ask... Just picked up a pair of 18x10.5+15 at a decent deal in silver. But... the 9.5+15's are backordered for forever it seems. No one has them that I have called.

I dont see where it would be a bad idea. I personally don't think it'll look that great but if you can clear the brakes... Why not try it.

That's what I was a little worried about.... Stock Brembos so it will all clear, just don't want it to look too stupid. Just wondering how I would do the tires to get max grip and not look all goofy.

I'm guessing this isn't for a 370z?

The Nismo RS Concept runs 17" front 18" rear but is slammed..

I'm sure if you use the right tire profile it'll look fine. As long as they're functional.

I think running 2 different light weight wheels on the street says:

a) I drift to the store and back

or

b) I can't afford 4 of the same wheel

Not that I don't think you can afford them but it seems like a setup you would normally see on a boi racer S13 or a track car.

275/40-17 would be the proper front tire

Considering that you are a 7 year member you know that this combination will be fine. Its tire height that matters- not wheel diameter.

295/35x18: Actual speed 100.0 MPH. Speedometer will read 102.11 MPH. THis is acceptable.

Do you have VDC?

It's the same wheel doofis, just a different size up front.

Davidv - I know it will work just fine. More worried about it looking retarded with a slightly larger sidewall in the front than rear. But I think I found some 18's for the front too. They were backordered till Dec something and im just being impatient, but I think I found some.

I used to run a 17x9 front and 18x9.5 rear for a while... I ran a 245/45/17 and 275/40/18 and it looked pretty good... I'll see if I can find a pic

17” front wheels with 18” rear wheels provides a great handling 350Z with good ride comfort. Personally I think it’s a better setup than 18" front wheels with 19” rear wheels.

Bump this thread since I'm about to do the same. OP post pics if you installed the rims.

check out the weight saving on just rims

then

check out the money saving on just tires

then go out and buy a set!

If I was stateside I'd be snacking up a used set of rpf1s in seconds...

Not even close, tires are almost $100 a tire cheaper for 17's when you are dealing with sticky street or R comps. I would still have the 17/18 combo if RPF1's in 17 fit over my front calipers.
