Default Plus sizing tires on my Rays rims???

Hey everyone,

I will be in the market for some new shoes for my Z soon and I was wondering what I can do here (ie bigger tires)

Can I replace the Front tires (225/45/18) with 245/45/18 and the rears (245/45/18) with 275/40/18.

Would this screw up ABS, VDC etc??

I don't know the offset calculator stuff and was just wondering if it can be done ... or if someone would please link me to the calculator, I would be glad to give it a shot myself.

Thanks

Jim

for the fronts, use 245/40-18

for the rear... you can fit a 275/40-18 on the rear wheel, but many tire manufacturers recommend the wheel be at least 9" wide for a 275 tire (the Rays wheels is 8.5" wide)... if you don't use the 275/40, you can use 255/40 or 255/45

You won't have any troubles with the electronics with any of these tire sizes...

Hope that helps,

PeteH

A 265/35/18 would be a good choice for the rear. There are a few good tires available in that size. It's just about perfect on an 8.5" wheel

Thanks for the input guys...i gooled for the tire size calculator and found that the 275/40/18s are basically perfect for the rolling diameter.

Now I want to know ....

Has anyone SUCESSFULLY mounted and used 275/40/18 on 8.5" rim for a daily driver...

or does anyone see the negative of doing this.

Thanks

Jim

Putting too big of a tire on a wheel can adversly affect the cars handling, the ability for the tire to disipate water, and can cause the tire to overheat. What exactly are you going to accomplish by putting on the wrong tire?

I have 235/40 and 255/40 on my track wheels, and they work flawlessly. They arent to bad in diameter size as well.

I guess I was just being cheap I guess. I have a spare set of 245/45/18s and I wanted to use them .. while upsizing the rear contact patch.

cobrasak ... what brand of tires .. and how much did they cost?

They are S03's I got a good deal on them at 700 installed. firestone was having a special buy2 get 2 free. You may want to look into that. The rear contact patch is wider. i think the s03's are wider than the re040 anyhow.
