Default 17" stock -->> 18" Nismos

This is for anyone that has gone from the 17" stock wheels to the 18" Nismos. Is there a noticable difference in ride quality and/or handling? Is the offset of the Nismos the same as the 17s? Im new to the site and couldnt really find any answers anywhere else. Thanks for the help. BTW, any other thoughts are appreciated also.

I have been around for a while. I am thinking of doing the same. I would really like the tires to be flush with the body.

I'm doing the switch now. I can tell you this much, the handling will be much better due to the tires I'm putting on: Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3. I didn't really feel safe in the stock Potenzas. Also, the tires are wider.

If your using the correct size tires 245/40-18 and 275/40-18 you will be very pleased with the end result. Ride quality is unaffected and they will sit out to the end of the fender far enough without rubbing.

With the right tires, it's a great mod. I put on Dunlop SP9000s (245/40 and 275/40). The off sets are +25mm front and +30mm rear, which in my mind is perfect.

The ride IMO is better. I like the stability of the wider tires over stock. I went from the stock 17's to the Nismos. The offset is different for the two: Stock (17's) is 30mm front and 33mm rear, I believe. As mentioned, the Nismo's are 25mm front & 30mm rear. The only areas where the tires peek out from the body is where the fender wells curve inward. Otherwise, the tires are just a bit inward of flush to the outer most part of the fenders.

Also, as a plug for the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 tires: I've been caught in two down pours of rain so far since putting on the tires, and the feel from the road is as though the Goodyears don't even realize the road is wet--they stick as if it were dry! I'm sold!

Thanks for all the help guys. Another thing I just thought of is what tire pressure are you suppose to run with the Nismo wheels?

Per the instructions packaged with the Nismo wheels that specify the correct (or recommended) tire size, also comes recommendations to run the OEM tire pressures. If you follow the included directions, you cannot go wrong!

ChinaClipper

your instructions are almost correct. They are correct if going from an 18" wheel. If coming a 17" wheel it says to run 34PSI front and rear, and in another section it says to run 35lbs front and rear. I believe 35PSI to be correct.

Roger that Lou! 35 psi is the correct pressure. Those Nismo wheels look sweet on your G!

Check out Tire Rack, or Discount Tire (America's Tire). I purchased mine from Discount Tire--cost more, but included mounting and balancing. I believe fronts were ~$214ea and $270ea for the rears.

In Japan they are. I asked about them from performance nissan as well as courtesy nissan, and both said they are not available domestically... as of yet. That pic below is the 19 in. LMGT4... just click the image.

Jeff; I have an 04 touring coupe -auto with stock 17s. I am considering 04 g35 coupe 18inch wheels and tires,225/45R18-245/45R18, is there any problems with this set up? ie speedo or computer issues, etc etc.Thanks
