Default Track Enkei Raijin 18x9.5 and RS-3

Cant fine the answers, i searched and found this thread but questions still un-answered.
http://g35driver.com/forums/wheels-t...ire-sizes.html

I want to know what the best size tire to run on 18x9.5 for front for track..

Im getting rid of my 19x10 +35 with 265/30 ad 295/30 Hankook evo v12s for some 18" wheels to make it cheaper for better quality tires. I do find with this current set up when turning tightly the front end feels like it skipps.. not sure if thats due to the profile or too heavy and wide on front??

I have regular canyon runs and getting into fun track days more often
whiteline sway bar on soft both front and rear
bc racing BR series coilovers on +12 front and rear
usually run 36psi cold
and just got ap racing 3700 and 3750 BBK

So with that info i am getting Enkei Raijin 18x9.5 +15 for rear and will use RS-3 285/35/18
front i am unsure and need help...
1. what size rim 18x9.5 or 8.5 + 35
2. what size tire, 245/255/265 and what profile, 35 or 40 ?
- people have different opinions, go smallest size of tire for the rim for better turn in (less skip?) and then others say wider = more stable....

Ideas?

265/40/18 all four corners mounted on that 9.5+35 wheel so you can rotate and replace without worry.

The RS3 runs large, so I'd go 265 all around as well. I have the 285 RS3s on 9.5s all around, and although it seems to 'work' just fine, I do think the 265 would be a better fit. If you go 10.5s all around, then i'd go 285 tires all around.

Thanks for the info.
285/35 i got a set new but from a guy taht brought them last year and didnt use them, cost us here in Au, $350e fitted but got them for $200 each (+$15e to fit) .. so if i go 285/35 this time and then 265/40 in front and when i need new tires just get 265/40 all round ?

is there much of a difference between the 35 and 40 if i cant get the 40s?

And too bad i cant fit +15 9.5 in the front as i love the deep concave look..

You can fit a 9.5 +15 just fine up front. There are numerous Z owners running that size up front. There are so many people that are running the Enkei RPF-1 in 18x9.5 +15 front with 265/35/18 R-S3 and 18x10.5 +15 rear with 285/35/18 R-S3.

You can absolutely fit an 18 x 9 +15 in front. The difference with the 265/35 and 265/40 is it's going to make the sidewalls taller. Could it work? yes.

Oh for real, so as you say Enkei is playing it safe? (Also its on a 2003 G35 Coupe with AP Racing 3700 6piston BBK not 350z)
Here's what I got back from Enkei:
"They will definitely clear the ap racing 3700 brakes all the way around. 18x9.5 +15 is NOT nice for the fenders up front though. He will be pulling and rolling fenders.

If he wants 18x9.5 all the way around, why not do the 18x9.5 +35 up front and then the 18x9.5 +15 in the rear. It will still clear the calipers and he won't have to screw with the front fenders."

Oh great !!! I have a G35 Coupe, not 350z but both the same.?
Im getting 265/35 and 285/35 RS-3, found 2 good deals on new tires from private sales so savings heaps and lucky i got right sizes

If you get the +15, you'll have a wider track...das gewd for track use.

what do you mean good for track due to wider track? as in more wheel from the hub further out?

Im just learning about all this offset, camber, width, quality vs looks, weight etc !!

Wait, when you said:

were you talking about tire sidewall or offset?

If it's offset, you'll want the +15. a wider track means the distance, fore and aft, between two wheels - or driver/passenger.

sidewall
yes i want +15 all round, and thanks i understand the wider track now,
greater the offset the closer the wheels are L to R.. , the less (+15..) the further away from each other

So having them further away is better for stability and quick tight cornering?
will post pics up in few weeks once i got them all on the car !!!!

Cant wait, should be just in time for track day

P.S what toe and camber should i get alignment guy to do ? im stock camber arms, only lowered a little with coilovers.. still 100mm from bottom of car to road

Mmm I don't know about quicker turn in as I'm not too familiar with all the dynamics of changing width, suspension and tire compound on the car just yet. Hopefully I'll be learning more during this track season.

ok looking at this calculator
http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp
Name: wheelspec.png
Views: 276
Size: 37.5 KB

it says the 9.5 +15 will stick out 15mm more than my current setup, looking at this pic it is pretty much dead on flush with the lip...

so the front since is not too low you think will be fine still? i run it at +12 dampening ...

Rear has a bit more room, ill measure tomorrow, i think its 10mm

Not bad... i like it better but not the right colour.. i like the GTC-01 but too $$$
Thats why the Raijin was perfect, good price, right design, right colour..
too bad its not in 10.5 but i think 9.5 will still work

any idea on the above terra? others run 9.5+15 but must use camber arms or camber like crazy to fit... i dont have camber arms nor wish to get them..

stay with +35 which = same as i got now, or take the risk with +15 and not lower it any further ? im worried about hard cornering which i do every day.. i just love roundabouts, empty T-sections and no VDC

Just do the +15 up front with a 265/35 to be safe. Then run a 275/35 or 285/35 out back.

I highly suggest camber arms, the added camber makes the car handle so much better. Tire life will also improve with more front camber, if your doing a lot of corner turning.

I run a 315 hoosier A6 on a 10.5" +15 on stock, unmolested stock fenders. Only -2.4 camber, too.

Car is dirty as hell in this pic, but:
