Default whats causing my wheel to wobble? spacer?

the car has v1 20mm spacers in the rear. has had them for 2 years no problems really. When upgrading to brembos i noticed that i had a couple lug nut cross threaded and ruined a couple of the extended wheel studs so i decided i would change them out since i had spare longer studs. well i had a horrible time getting the new studs in even froze them heated up the hub and all. once i thought i had them all in i put everything back together and went for a ride. for some reason i got a crazy idea of checking my wheels in the rear view mirror and when i did i noticed it was wobbling pretty bad on both sides. got home took the wheels off and thinking i wasnt able to get the studs all the way threw the hub so i decided i was gonna pull the hubs and just press them in i was sick of messing with it. in the process i planned on changing wheel bearings since i had 65k on them and i dont plan on replacing them later plus as a fail safe incase thats what was causing the wobble. after pressing out the hubs i realized that a few of my studs were actually BENT slightly some more then others but they were all pushed in correctly. since i only had 4 spare studs i replaced what i thought was the 4 worst n put everything back together. spun the rear end in the air and there is still a visible wobble in the tire ( less then before but still there)

Could it be that the last few studs that i didnt replace are also bent. it isnt the bearings since they are new. is this common with v1 spacers? any imput would be great, at this point i think i am going to replace all the studs to short stock studs and buy bolt on spacers. tom i plan on removing the spacers and installing the wheel without them to see if it still has a slight wobble.

sorry for the super long post. just wanted to get all the details out.

Put the car on jack stands , remove rear wheel , start car and let it idle in 1st or 2nd gear , look for wobble in the hub. I believe you have a bad hub or wheel bearing.

Also swap rear wheels from side to side, you may have a bent wheel

Bent studs will still hold a wheel flat against the hub and will not have a side to side wobble. Bent studs with a non hubcentric setup can have an up and down wobble.

can you feel it while driving? if not the wheel could of been bent for a while. take it to a tire shop and tell them to check it on the balancer. shouldn't cost more then $10

just throwing this out there. just keep trouble shooting.

well i removed the spacers and the rotors and bolted a wheel straight to the hub seems to have gotten rid of 99% if not 100% of the wobble (i think my mind and the tread is playing tricks on me on a tiny wobble)

couple other ideas.. could it be poorly balanced wheels, missing weights, or maybe a bad belt in the wheel...i did notice they dont roll even when off the car they kinda wobble when i push them.. would that be visible in the air.. just throwing other ideas out.

If it can't be felt while driving, and everything is torqued to spec, it could just be a few inconsistencies with the tire itself or your wheel is slightly bent. No wheel/tire is perfectly round/true, so keep that in mind as well.

just a lil update. both back wheels on the balancer were 1 ounce off so that fixed some of it. i pulled all extended studs and a few were bent towards the middle. dont have any idea how this happened but i imagine this caused the rest of the wobble replaced all studs with stock studs and bolted everything up without the new bolt on spacer. tom im gonna bolt the new spacer on but i dont forsee a problem. we shall see.

I'm sorry.

I've been running 20mm spacers and extended studs for 5 years now, only studs that failed were from Discount or myself cross threading the lugs. You had multiple bent studs, you did something wrong or hit something really hard.

To bad they were not a V1 15mm , I would buy them from you.

One my customers had the exact same problem. He had 15mm spacers in the rear and you could visibly see the wheel wobble. When we took off the spacer, the wobbling was basically gone. Turns out the spacer somehow got warped a bit, not sure how, but I would double check that spacer of yours.

You didn't feel the wobble only saw it? If you can see you sure as hell would feel it. I'd get bolt on spacers at a 20mm I wouldn't run extended studs anything past 15mm. I have a set of h&r for sale brand new..
