Low Tire Pressure Indicator On While Parked?
So I turned on my Z this morning, and noticed a new light, that looked something like this:
I never noticed this before, so I'm doubting it was on before this morning. It didn't blink or turn off, just stayed on. It the low tire pressure warning light.
Only concern / question is, in the manual it says the TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) only activates at speeds above 16 mph (25 km/h), so why was this on before I even started to drive?
I am assuming my tire pressure is low, and here in Canada it's very cold this monring. Our coldest yet this year. So I'm assuming the temperature has something to do with it.
The tires looked fine. I'll have to take them in to get pumped up. The tires have green caps which means they are filled with nitrogen instead of compressed air. I'll have to see who can do that for me.
LATE EDIT: I forgot to mention the tire pressures read 34..35 for most of the tires except one read between 29..30, so it was working properly letting me know that the pressure of one of the tires was down. I don't remember now if I didn't know how to check this when I posted, or just forgot to mention. I'm assuming the indicator goes on when the pressure gets around 30.

Looked fine, as in you put a gauge on them and they are fine ?

Guessing that he meant they were not flat on the ground so all is good. SMH. But I have never seen the light come on without rolling so that is kind of weird even though this time of year a lot fof folks will be having to pump up the tires.
OP - break down and spend $3 on a tire gauge, ok? Glad that in '03 the car still had a digital display for each wheel - mine is dead on accurate. As far as nitrogen, wouldn't waste my time.

Air expands and contracts depending on the ambient temperature. I would suspect the pressure was high enough while driving that the light didn't go off, but low enough to trip the light when the air outside and inside cooled overnight. Even tires on the side of the car facing the sun when parked can read higher than those in the shade side.

Mine came on for the first time about a year ago (08 Touring) for no reason at all. Pressure was fine as I continually check it.
I just left it alone untill the next time I was over by the dealer that I bought the car from. As I have a relationship with them they just reset the sensor and it has not came on sense. Didn't charge me a dime....

OP - Check your pressure and report back.

Air molecules are closer together when cold. Therefore you should have to add in cold and lower in warm.. this is also why cold air makes more more power. You can fit more air into the cylinder and it draws in more fuel making Moe powa.

I forgot to update you guys on this thread. I'm the OP. I got my tires back to 35 PSI at the shop and the light went off after a short drive. Seems to indicate that the tire was low. I asked them to let me know what the pressure actually way, but they said the deflated the tires first, and then inflated them, so they had no idea. They did the deflation/inflation three times I guess.
