Default 2008 Nismo 350z 20" Wheels ABS Sensor Question

Hey all, I have a question - I just purchased a set of 20" Wheels for my 2008 Nismo 350Z. I know the factory wheels have a different stagger, so it seems the 20's are messing up the ABS Sensor, as when I take a curve it activates the ABS and slows the car down..

Whats the solution here? Do I need to get the ABS sensors reprogrammed or reflashed? I can't be the first person to run into this problem with aftermarket wheels on a NISMO.

Thanks for your help!!!

Wheels don't matter , tire height does. Post your tire sizes

Please remove the homie sized SUV wheels from your car

Terra is obviously embellishing as obviously 20's can work on some cars (GTR, GT500, etc.) but he's right in his assessment that they don't belong on a Z, much alone any nismo Z's.

Solution = sell wheels.

Idk why so many people hate on the 20" wheels on a Z..... If you get the right wheels I think it can work and look good at the same time. For instance mine didn't turn out to bad..

Probably not the first, but among the few to put 20" wheels on a Nismo. Are they at least of better quality than the stock forged wheels...???

Because the Z is a sports car and 20" wheels are usually gaudy, heavy, cheap, and have poor fitment.

There are nice 20" wheels out there, such as SSR SP1's, but most people that want 20" wheels just want bling, regardless of the quality. Even if it's less than OEM which is probably the case with the OP.

I don't even want to think about how much those things must weigh, and how much power they waste. But, YMMV.

thanks to everyone for the info - it seems the tire size difference is what is screwing up my abs sensors? The fronts are 255/35/20's and the rears are 285/30/20's.
I bought the wheels and tires as a combo - do i need to change out the tires to get rid of the ABS problem?? Thanks all!!!!

Using this calculator

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

It shows that your front tire height is 84.9" and your rear is 84".......you sir have a reverse stagger = no bueno

285-35-20 would solve this problem since it would be 87.5" in diameter and have the correct size stagger

255/30-20 would be a working front tire. Really you should throw those wheels in the trash and buy 18's or 19's. if not sell the car and buy some ghetto *** Chrysler 300, homie sized bling blings seem to be common on them.

Terra must think the GTR is ghetto? LOL.

In any matter, sell those wheels OP (what do they look like anyway for the lulz) because 20's won't look right on the nismo. Take the profits and put them towards proper fitted wheels for the Z. Good luck.

Oh yeah, here are some pics with 20's. Not really feeling it.

I think some 19's up front and 20's on the back would look good.

I rode in a Z with 'balling 20's then rode in a friends track Z with modified suspension on 17' rpf1's,

the rpf1 car felt like a cadillac, 20's felt like a horse carriage over a yellow brick road.

Ok thanks again for everyone's help!!
So my options are:
Buy 2 new rear tires or
Buy 2 new front tires or
Get rid of the 20s all together and get a different set.

Referring to the stagger which seems to be throwing off the vehicle stablization/traction control .. What is the correct front to rear size ratio so I don't screw this up??

Thanks again for everyone's help - I'm am amateur at the wheel an tire effect on the traction abs

Rear tires need to be roughly 3/4 inch taller that the fronts.

Just FYI, it's the TCS, not the ABS, which is reacting to the tire stagger. They do use the same sensors, though.
