Default TPMS dissasembly for powdercoating stem?

Can the OEM TPMS valve stems be powdercoated? Or is there some rubber or something you can't remove from them? I'm powdercoating my RPF1's soon, and need to know. Considering ordering a new set of TPMS for them and selling the old ones along with my GTC01's.

I've heard you have to get new ones recalibrated to your car, which is quite pricey. Might as well just keep your stock ones.

Yes, I know you have to recalibrate the new TPMS sensors, and there's a DIY for this. I'm not worried about that. I bought a new set of TPMS sensors, and they're shipping to me right now. I just want to make sure that the sensors can be removed from the metal "stem" part, and the "stem" part can be powdercoated; is there a rubber seal/gasket that is inseperable from the stem, or can I have them powdercoated?

Don't powder coat them.

Will they cease to function? Obviously the blue sensor that sits inside the barrel of the wheel, I'm not powder coating, but I'm curious as to if that's separated, if the other half is safe to powder coat?

Think about the issues of reassembling the stems, assuming you can get them apart, with regard to durability and being airtight. You can certainly paint the stems to match your wheels, maybe polish them, or use something like plasti-dip or heat-shrink tubing to change their appearance. Seems like more trouble than it's worth to get to crazy with valve stems.

Yeah, the problem is I am planning on stripping the wheel paint, polishing the aluminum, and applying a trans copper 2 powder coat. The powder coat is see through somewhat, and I don't think the look can be replicated with paint. The dupli color copper spray paint may do a similar job, but not sure. I might just have to paint them a black color or something if this proves to be impossible.

Sounds interesting. Post a pic or two when they're all done.

Unscrew the cap and paint it whatever color you want then screw it back on. You only need to paint the cap.
