Default 20 Inch Rims??????

Hi, i am new to this forum and 4 days new to the Z community. I just bought my first Z, its a black 6-speed Touring. I love the car but i am reluctant about the stock rims. they are nice but i want it to stick out. i am thinking about getting a set of ADR 20 inch rims, but i am not sure if they would be too big and how they would affect the ride. Would they rub? would the fenders need to be rolled or anything. Any information that could help me out even a little would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

- Saad

there are a few z's out there with 20s. the whole issue of rubbing will depend on offsets and how wide the rims are, but 20s will fit.

majority of z's with aftermarket rims have 18s or 19s.

If you are going to get 20s, i wouldnt get ADR. If you get 20s you need to shell out the bucks for a strong lightweight one.

20" ADRs will probably be over 30 pounds which you will not only feel rob your acceleration, but the added weight will also affect ride and suspension.

Not only that but you will have to ride a tiny sidewall which will contribute to the harsh ride. Tire cost will be astronomical too.

You should get 19s. They make the car stand out enough and you can still get them at a reasonably light weight. You will also not notice a performance sap if you are switching from non-track wheels.

Many go with Volk TE 37s. At 19 to 20 pounds for a 19" you cant go wrong.

Go with 19s. Easier to get to fit and they still look good. My advice to you is to keep an eye on the wheel weight. try not to go above 25lbs, whatever the size of your wheel!

Luck!

Thanks guys for giving me some advice. I am shaky on the 2-'s as well, so i guess i am going to look into 19's. But any other pinions or advice would be nice. I just dont want to do anything "ricer" to the Z, its a beautiful car, I LOVE IT! and i only want it to be a subtle performer, nothing ricey or cheap. But please, do give more opinions and advice.

thanks again

Is the Z going to be your daily driver? I would think the ride quality would suffer since the sidewalls are going to be short - you'd have to use 30 series tires, I think. I say stay with 18s or 19s. You'll have more wheel/tire choices too.

I have 20's on my car. They are 9' in the front and 10' in the back. I have no rubbing or anything. I can still lower the car 1'. But I am going to wait till everything is said and done with the alignment/camber issue. THere is a post that has a buncha pics, here...https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....threadid=58454

BLAZIN Z, it all depends on what you wanna do with your car. If you're out for speed and performance, don't do 20's. Do what everyone else is doing and get some light weight 19 inch volks or a similar type racing wheel. Look thru the Tokyo Auto Salon highlights for some ideas on racing wheels. If you're going for more of the car show display look, definitely go with 20's, nothing less. Check out the R1 wheels on the Jada toys Z at the Sema Show. The 5zigen wheels are pretty hot as well.Personally, I would go with the 20's. Look at brands like Maya,Maido,Iforged and HRE.Also look into R1 forged wheels. They're all pretty pricey but its worth it in the end. That one inch makes a huge difference. 19's look kinda small, but are good if you're going for speed. Check g35driver.com for some ideas on 20's

Chattermark, those rims are hottt..Your car is a perfect example of why 20's are a must on 350's. They fit so much better and fill up the wheel well perfectly. Are those iforged? How much did they run you? Chrome or polished?

THey are IForged Evolutions 3pc, they are fully polished. BUt the only draw back to getting 20's is that I need a big brake kit now. THey make the brakes look soo small. I payed 4G's with tires shipped. And the best thing is that I didn't have to wait 6 weeks for them. www.wheelsboutique.com had the size and offset that I was looking for. I have nothing but praise for them. <M>

chattermark - your wheels look great. If you have other pics and don't mind, e-mail me few at bhawthorne1@hotmail.com. Thanks.

BTW, I went to wheelsbotique's website and their list price would put those wheels close to $4G's, WITHOUT tires. Do they give you discount off the list?

I agree with others on this thread. If you have a daily driver go for 19's. I went with the 19's and the ride is noticibly rougher than the stock 18's. I can only assume that 20's would be that much more harsh. If you have VDC be careful of changing the rotational speeds of the front v.s. the back.

I called them on the phone, I think it was #221 operator. He gave me a deal since they were in stock. He offered the deal to me on the phone.

I have 20s on my 350 I feel the lack of turning radius due to the size no rubbing but the street feels like its part of the rim. also no coilovers and already needing to stop before any bump as to not break the nismo bumper.
