Default stud on front hubs

Sup guys

So I got my wheels mounted and ballanced and I thought Id start with the front first took the stock 17s off and started to fit the new 19s, wouldnt go on so I tried again and again and then I thought WTF and then thought $**t I bet they sent me the wrong bolt pattern,So I got down eye level with the studs and could see that they lined up with the holes....So I tried again still no use then I noticed there was a 12mm bolt with a sleave on it,I could see that it was'nt going into the recess at the back of the wheel like I guess it should,so I got a wrench and took it of the wheel went straight on phew, it doesent look as though it does anything, maybe its to give the wheel some extra support or something.
Any of you guys had the same problem or did your new wheels go straight on without takeing that stud off ?? and does anybody know what it really does??

As far as I know the stud is there to prevent the OEM wheels from being rotated rear to front. It is OK to remove it.
