Default Tire help

I just ordered a set of Hankook ventus v12 Evo2 (K120) version.

I read the reviews on tire rack and they seemed pretty highly rated for a Max performance summer tire. Then I read some reviews that they are a bit squishy in cornering and not exactly a stiff feeling tire.

Can anyone elaborate on that?

Suggestions for equally or slightly better tire not into the Ultra high performance category??

I have to make a decision tonight to return them to tire rack for another tire hopefully with a bit stiffer sidewall and decently performing.

Sizes:
255/35/18
275/35/18

Thanks

i had the v12s and thought that the rear felt squirrely... the next set of tires i got the BFG sport comp 2's and loved them. i would suggest over the v12's (and they are a bit cheaper)

**edit, i just had the evo... not the evo2's

I haven't installed them yet, but that's the catch I can't find out personally without taking the hit for them... Grrrr

If they are too soft, then I am stuck with them.

Main problem I have been having is tail wiggle with mismatched tires f/r. Not even sure if a full set will correct this yet.

I really like the V12s and even though I'm a Toyo fan, it's just so hard to pass up the V12s (Y speed rating) for the price. It won't be too long before I'll be in the market once again for a new set and when I look around like even on Tire Rack, once again that price is hard to pass up. They are a good tire. *still want some R888s!

i thought the sidewall flexed too much, the bfg were a lot stiffer. but just like anything it is personal preference

like dad used to say
--- an opinion is like an a-hole, everyone has one and they usually stink

I've had 255/40 275/40 v12 evo2's for a few weeks now. In daily street spirited driving they've done just fine. Like previously mentioned, they're decent for the price. I would give them a shot...

Everybody laughs when I mention these first ones but for my purpose - hill/canyon - I'm yet to find another tire so consistent and controllable.

Budget pick MAX PERF: Sumitomo HTRZ-3. (Not to be confused with earlier HTRZ-2 (ripoff of old Goodyears). I was wary at first but they have NEVER let me down and turn-in response equaled the Mushylin PS that I had previously. (Ultimate grip about equal).

Mid-upper range MAX PERF
(currently on my second set of wheels, not even broken in yet): Bridgestone S-04. Even barely scrubbed, these had turn-in and grip that gave me confidence out of the box.

Upper Range Extreme Perf: Yokohama Advan AD08R (just mounted them on my Niz) - can't really tell you how well they work as I've barely got 200 miles on them but they have so far changed the ride dynamic of my Nismo from noisy and rough (OEM Bridgestone RE050s) to one of quiet gumball sticky response. Even at 40lbs baseline. (Haven't dropped/tuned 'em yet.)

Thanks for the inputs..

A few years ago I had Dunlop z1 star specs and I was utterly satisfied with them even though I never got to track them. I dropped down to mismatched tires after several blow outs and thus inferior tires resulting in differences Front to rear.

I am very concerned about cornering stability and tire role, being the two things I'd like to avoid especially in a perf tire. Sticking to the door in turns is nice and having that confidence in the tire stiffness, I feel is what I am interested in.
