am i REALLY needing to spray my brand new, fresh out the box, $5k, waited 3-1/2 months for rims with "clear coat"?

17" $400 rims i get... but why am i having such a hard time wanting to do this?

you mean the lips?

wheel diameter doesn't make a difference.

wouldn't brake dust etch into clear also? i would get a good wheel sealant, something made to resist brake dust, and apply it generously . just my thoughts

I think your supposed to plasti dip them so they are more in style.

All I did was wax mine before I put them on, if I paid $5000 on wheels I wouldn't even put them on my car, but the roads here are legendary bad.

Luckily, where I live there are tons and tons of looong stretches of road.

I'm not super big on the plasti dip stuff... I've seen nice plasti dip jobs, but not for me.

However... Do the make a "clear" one, possibly wax'ible?

The whole rim.
I'm used to 16"s and 17"s
I thought maybe you do something different with bigger rims.

I've never had a car long enough to see that happened....

Damn it, now I'm more worried, lol.

Because I've seen rims that get dirty and the almost impossible to remove dust, dirt and grim get caught in the pockets and grooves and taint the appearance.

I really want to properly maintain them.

Pressure washer a better idea??

If you want to ruin the original finish of the wheels, go ahead and clear coat them.

Do some looking around on detail forums and find what you should apply to them.

don't do it! you will just ruin the original finish. here's what I did with my Volk GT-S (RMC finish): just wash them regularly and put on some wax on the lips and spokes every now and then...and they are still pretty eve after 10 years in use. just make sure not to drive around with brake dust for weeks
