05 Base model Wheel upgrades thos
So ive been doing a lot of research and i'm still a little confused on offset and the staggering of 350z wheels. So today i have two to three questions pardon me if it's a constant duplicate on here. The stock base model Z for 05 has Front: 17x8 with a 30mm offset
Rear: 17.8.5 with a 33mm offset?
not sure if those are right which is why i'm here. i wanna buy some 18" but i'm not sure what's more reccomended not better, a lower or higher offset and is the staggering required when it comes to 350z wheels?

i know i'm sorry for the hassle i just can't find the exact information i'm looking for, and i'm pretty new into the car world spoiled myself with a Z as my first vehicle.but the wheels do not have to be staggered but is it recommended? with 18x9.5 a +15 offset and with a 18x10.5 a 20+ offset would sit flush?

Keep in mind that the offset requirements vary with the width of the wheels and the size of the tires.
Understanding offset:

While a 9.5/10.5 combination is pretty much about the most maximized configuration with all other aspects of the car taken care of and optimized for your type of driving, e.g., suspension and alignment, the 8.5/9.5 or 9/10 combinations work very well too.

Stock 18's on 2005 changed to a small staggering for the Anniversary I think. Regular 18x8 30p front and back worked for a long time so I'll say staggering is not essential but the difference in overall diameter from different width front and back is factored into traction control computer. So a stock 245/45 rear and a 225/45 front. Whatever tyres you go with should maintain that small ratio in rolling circumference whatever it is.
There are not many 18" 30p wheels out there. They are all 8.5''.
I have done a lot of reading and not found much explanation of how offset relates to wheel width in the alignment sense, as opposed to fitting the biggest fine wheel and tyre possible within the arches. I believe contact patch centre shifting inboard with less offset can leave no scrub radius or not enough scrub to stabilize the straight ahead condition so the steering feels loose.
I believe a 18x8.5 30p should put the tyre in the same plane as a 8.0 with 30p.

Of course a base model has no traction control to worry about but I saw a photo somewhere that showed both ends on same tyres and it looked a bit gawky high in the front to my eye. That little bit of downhill lean to the front is what looks normal and correct I guess.

Jeebus, really?? The first 6 comments on the thread answered the question with re-directs to other helpful articles. After those ANSWERS, the thread took a turn for the humorous. Man, not exactly sure what more spoon feeding you think this thread needs that hasn't been covered already in a 3,747 other threads. At least this one didn't just say "Search, newb!!"

The link is about offset and it's a hoot. To find an unknown offset measure down from straightedge and subtract half the overall. Or find where it's stamped on there.
How did the first response get to 10.5's? Answer the question asked then discuss why it's not an appropriate question. I happen to think it's an entirely appropriate one since 2005 was the start of staggered stock rims.
It's my guess Nissan brought in wider rear rims and increased the offset so it stayed looking stock. That would have narrowed the track at the rear. No change on front.
I haven't read anything to say why 18x8.5 30p 245/45 rear, 18x8.5 30p 225/45 would be wrong. That's the stock tyres with option to go wider.

see, this is where I feel the residents have got it all wrong. The equiry was never answered. "What is stock 18" rims looking like?".

Wider wheels with a lower offset give a nice flush look... Oem wheels and sizes give a sunken in appearance.
All you need to do is throw an 18 in the 17 spot if you want crappie oem 18 fitment... If your into skinny wheels like 8.5s you would want a 0 offset to fit flush.
