Default 285 /30 R20 99Y XL tires in the rear

Just got my 05 z and it came with 20 inch rims, the back tires 285/30 need replaced. First time owner of z car, it seems like no one else running 20's on theirs. What are your thoughts or advice? Can a different series or size tire be put on the rim? Does having this rim and low profile tire affect the performance or suspension?

It's been done in the past, but twankies on the Z aren't too popular anymore unless you're going for "that look" as opposed to performance. https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-...on-thread.html

As far as putting a different tire on your current 20" wheels, more information is needed like the wheel specs (width, offset?).

It all boils down to budget, as in priorities. When I went from a stock 17" setup to a much larger tire set with 18" I swore I lost 40hp.
When you get your tax return look at some excellent racing wheels with a nice price-
ENKEI RPF01s
9.5 X 18 and
10.5 X 18.

The object is to reduce rotating mass. 20s aren't necessary IMHO.

As stated 20s aren’t a great choice for a Z, most guys run 18s or 19s, better tire selection, better ride, and cheaper. More info is needed to give a tire size rec for your 20s

275/30-20 will also work, but replacing the boat anchor rimz is always a good thing for performance
