Tire Upgrade for Budget Student
I am currently a student without the funding that some of you have to upgrade suspension, rims, and tires. I got my Z purely to just have a Z. Which i'm really happy with desipte some of the problems that some of us 03 owners have I am still very satisfied with the Z. Anways, the topic being I have 18k miles on my car now and i'm planning on replacing my tires soon. I know that getting a great set of rubbers can really improve the overall traction of the car. but I am wondering if I do spend around $600-800 bucks on ultra performance tires will it really do the ride of the 17in stock rims justice? I mean I have the "bounce" that some of us have but i'm hopin if i get a set of great tires than the "bounce" won't be present, am I right?
another this is I am on a budget so therefore I can't afford ultra performance low wear tires for i can't frequently replace them, so which set should I get? I really like the Yokohama series and I don't think I can afford anything better so can i get some suggestions?
thanks

People often sell their tires in the private classified section of this forum. Or you could find someone selling their wheels/tires and ask to buy just the tires.
Then again if you find a deal for stock 18's with tires you may want to jump on that

I'm kind of in the same boat. I'm getting close to 18,000 miles and I need to replace the stock REO-40's. I'd love to get some better tire, but I don't think I can spend big big bucks getting them.
I'll probably end up getting the REO's back again...at least they're fairly cheap.

I dunno about the re040s being so cheap.
As an OEM tire, they run $265 each in most dealers/stores. I'm sure you can get less on the net...but nitto 555s have a great rep. I had a set of NT209s on my prelude and they were sticky, but lost that *ultimate* grip quickly. OTOH, they lasted a long time. the 555s are $150/tire on discounttire.
Oh and hopefully they have the same mobile service we have here in SD. These guys will come out to your house! We didnt have that Jerz....damn.
Torn between the 555s and Yokohama AVS ES100
and Kumho Ecsta Supra 712
.
hmmmm

tires won't help the bounce. If you can't find used ones here, I would recommend Kuhmo Ecsta 712s, in 245/45-17 and 255/45-17. same heights as stock and under $400 for the set from tire rack or DTD.

How many miles do you want out of a set of tires and how sticky do you want? All-season tires or summer only max performance?
With a little more info I can tell you what I've run that would probably fit your needs
