I'd only plan on lowering the car about 1" all around or so...so nothing drastic...

I guess different people on the board here have said both stories..some say it won't..others say it will...any definitive answer?

With a 1" drop you will get some rubbing in the rear. You can try to bend the wheel lip flange with a baseball bat balanced against the tire (use a wood bat) or take it to a shop and have them hit it with a grinding disk. Just be sure to add some touch-up paint to the flange after the latter.

 

hrmm thanks for the advice...I think if it did rub, I'd just go with rolled fenders, but definitely would want to avoid it if at all possible.

I plan to roll my own fenders by renting a fender roller for $75 (for 3 days).

If anyone else is in the Sacramento area, and would be interested in sharing the rental costs with me and DIY, then please pm me. I've never done it before, but with great care, I think it's do-able. The body shops that I've contacted don't use fender rollers (the tool), and seem to go with the baseball bat technique. I'm a DIY'er and I'd rather spend the $ on getting the right tool for the job.

I became a DIY'er after watching Jiffy Lube workers change the oil in my car....scary...

you can rent it from Tirerack but there is like a 6 month waiting list. you can buy one for 600 i believe and charge for fender rolling and make some money on the side. its made by Haweka.

 

the haweka is definitely not 600 bucks... it's like 1600 bucks.

the 600 dollar one is a copy that falls apart after about 5 months
