Scratchy Nuts?
I remove my OEM wheels frequently, bleeding brakes for HPDE's, and I noticed the chrome plating from Nissan is flaking off the conical portion of my lug nuts. Can't be a good thing, as the rough surface is acting as an end mill, slightly machining the mating surface of the wheels.
I'm not a fan of aluminum nuts, as most racing organizations require steel lug nuts. My low $ solution was to get non-chrome open ended replacement lugs with a cadnium plating from the local auto parts store. Dorman part #DOR 611-064. I paid $1.19 each.
These will also allow me to play with spacers if I chose too.
Gotta post a pic:

Another benifit is that they are smaller.....takes a 19mm socket, versus a 21mm. Lighter and less chance of scratching the paint in the lug nut bore.
To make pretty, I'm thinking of the plastic caps that come on some Volkswagens. But I'll bet the cost more than the lug nuts.
