Unhappy Feathering??? Is it a waste to spend $$ on wheels/tires?

I am in the process of buying an '03 touring. I plan on putting Volk SF-Winning, 19x8.5 and 19x9.5, with toyo Proxies and a 1 inch drop. I am not sure what feathering is? Am I wasting my ching on tires? Will the lower springs make it worse? Can you enlighten me?

I find it hard that I have not seen one guy say that Hey this is bull$hit my aftermarket super expensive tires are feathering and Im pissed. I hope its just that no one is having a problem but I doubt it I think people are just not exited about sharing this. But if it is happening they should share for the sake of the ones who want to pimp their rides but not to feather like the factory tires.

I think ant tires going to feather on the Z. It's not the tires fault. I'm starting to think twice about aftermarket tires and wheels.

There is a new Nissan TSB out.. If you lower your car you can't get free tires..

You can however change the shocks to say KONI's

My buddy had the Nissan Tow in set - and put on Volks and Toyo TS-1's He has Feathering in 3000 Miles..

Stay stock suspension and wheels for the first two years and get as manynew tires as Nissan will provide.

Cheers Amy -

P.S. Moving Left tire to right Wheel is just a delaying tactic.

Ha !

Amy,

I hope you are right about the TSB allowing me to change to the Konis and still get warranty coverage. They way I read it could be considered a suspension mod and not be covered. I have new tires on the front so I am not too concerned.

I never received a notice from Nissan about the feathering problem, but fortunately read about it in a magazine.I took it to the local Nissan dealer and of course they played stupid, but they did to a complete alignment at no charge. A couple of days after I put SSR Gt3 18" wheels and Pirelli tires on and have approx. 2,500 miles on the new tires and Love my new ride. No more problems so far with feathering.

I'm currently selling the 19" tires I bought. Decided not to spend any more $$ on wheels since the feathering came, TSB performed, and feathering reappeared. I have new tires from NNA and new alignment, but I have faith it will return.

Today at Performance Nissan - Eric Hu was TSB examined for feathering. Stock - Stock - Stock only Koni's

He was told to report for Tire Replacement in the upcoming week.

So.. Far .. So Good...

Me , Silver Springs, And Big Red Powder Coated Bars.
Blue Anodized Adjustable Camber Rods.

Na... I no long conform to the new TSB.

Cheers Amy -
