Default what is the width of the stock, non-track 18" 6-spoke rims?

i see conflicting information on the websites. is it 18x8 for front and rear wheels, or is it 18x8 front and 18x8.5 rear?

i know the track wheels are 18x8 and 18x8.5.

I believe the performance/touring 18" wheels are the same width front and back as the Track wheels. I have both sets of rims and the tires for each set of rims are the same size both in front and in back. In other words both are 18 x 8 in front and 18 x 8.5 in the rear.

The stock 18" rims for the Performance and Touring MT6 are all 8". The Track is the only one that has 8.5" on the rear.

You don't say what model you have so I can't answer properly. All 3 models that have the 18" wheels have 245/45 on the rear and 225/45 in the front. Not sure why you think it should be 225.

As for the center wearing: could be caused by over inflation or improper toe setting on the alignment. Sports cars with rear drive will always wear out rears rather quickly. Depends on your driving style too.

According to Nissan's website ZWindsor is correct. I thought I had read somewhere that the 18" non track wheels are the same width as the track wheels. That is both were 8.5 inches wide on the rear. When I get home tonight I am going to measure the width of my non track wheels to see how wide they really are. It seems odd that both the track and non track rear wheels use the same size tires, but have different widths. Since I have both sets of wheels I should be able to measure them and confirm the difference, if any.

i have a touring 03 model. i don't drive the car hard anymore...i used to but that was only occasionally even then. tire pressure may be the culprit since my brother in law borrowed the car for a while and he had 37 psi (cold) in the rear...damn in-laws!!!

thanks for the reply BTW

Jason,

I just measured the width of my 18" touring rear wheels and tires. The width is 8.5". I also measured the width of my track rear wheels and tires and the width is also 8.5". This makes perfect sense to me since the tires are the exact same size on both sets of rear rims. I also measured the width of the front wheels and tires and each of them are 8" wide. Both of my sets of wheels and tires are from 03 models.

I also checked my 2003 product guide for the 350Z (used by Nissan dealers which my dealer gave me when I purchased my car). The product guide states that the rear performance/touring 18" wheels are 8" wide and that the rear track wheels are 8.5" wide. However, my 2003 350Z brochure states that measurements are 8" wide for both the track and non track rear 18" wheels. My measurements show that both the track and non track rear wheels are 8.5". I don't know if that answers your questions. It seems more confusing now than before. Maybe Nissan doesn't know the difference. Who knows.

Does anyone else have further info on this issue?

2003 performance wheels are 8" all four corners even though the owner's manual says 8" front and 8.5" rear.

what the hell has tire width to do with rim width? You can put different tires width on a rim...

performance has 18x8 front 18x8 rear, check part numbers.

Cool - Just how did you measure the Inside Width of
a mounted tire and rim?

Inquireing minds want to know - was the front and the rear RIM
width the same ?

Or measuring the front 18" Perf/Touring wheel different - when measuring the mounted tire and rim? =

Or did you use calipers to the inside edge of the rim..

Or project the width of the rim with Laser

Or did you put your hand front and back accross the two surfaces
and have calibrated fingers?

Or are you Bul* Sh*ting us?

Cheers Amy -

Now running rear Touring Rims with front RE040's

Cheers Amy -

If I flex my tape measure properly, my Performance RIMS are 9 inches wide.

I can clearly SEE that the RIMS are stamped 18 x 8.0 on all 4 corners.
