My dealer cross rotated my tires !!! I didn't discover it until I had already drive 1575 miles with them like that. Did it cause any damage ? They swaer it didn't cause any wear ? Help.

I thought that was one of the original "fixes" for the Tire feathering problem. You can't just switch wheels from side to side, you have to dismount the tires and remount them, so they rotate in the proper direction. Since it's a Nissan TSB, I doubt it would hurt the tire or the car.

They didn't do it on purpose as they were really upset that it had happened. In the manual it says that there is a pin on the brake rotor so this can't be done .They are relacing my front tires due to feathering after much arm twisting and just a source of irration.I had complained a lot about the ride. Had it in for wheel alighment and tires side rotated twice and 3 services and after all of that my nephew checked my tire pressure and I had 22-24 pds in each tire. I can only figure that it was delivered that way 15,000 miles ago !! Sending Nissan all of this on their service follow up form. Thanks for your reply.

It sounds like they dismounted the tires from the front wheels and swapped them left-to-right, which is fine. That'll extend the life of your current front tire set. It is highly unlikely they tried to 'cross rotate' (i.e. Left Rear to Front Left, etc), as the 'pin' would have been in the way for the wheels to clear and I don't think they are dumb enough to have dismounted the rear tires and tried mounting them to the front wheels or vice versa. If they did ... then by God those guys do not derserve to be certified by Nissan.

In either case, you are still recommended to have the fronts replaced under the 'feathering' TSB. There's currently a national back-order of those tires alledgely due to the mass 'feather' TSB in action.

Good Luck,

Good Luck,
I had a 225 and a 235 in the front and the same in the back after I took it in for to have them rotated. That's why I question any other problem's this could have created. How did they do this if a pin is there to prevent this? They admitted to me that they had done it.The service Mgr. said that he could make excuses all day long but that fact was that they had totally screwed up.Thanks for your help.

No, and I have only taken it to the one dealer. Even forgetting that Mr. Good Wrench must not work there,I still don't understand how the pin on the brake rotor didn't stop them from doing that.Did they break it off or what?Have you heard anything about the length of wait for the tire replacements.

They rotated the tires from the left side to the right side. Its impossible to rotate the rear wheels to the front without removing a pin. So essentially, they dimounted your tires from there wheels - remounted them and moved them to the opposite side that they were originally on.
